Study on Fish Community and Similarity Characteristics in Nearshore Waters of Hainan Island [PDF]

open access: yesProgress in Fishery Sciences
Fish stock serves as the foundation for fishery development and ecosystem stability. The Hainan Island, encompassing mangroves, coral reefs, estuaries, and upwelling systems, has rich diversity and distinct characteristics of fish communities in the ...

Advances in Halide Perovskites for Photon Radiation Detectors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This work highlights recent progress in perovskite‐based photon radiation detectors, covering organic–inorganic hybrid, inorganic, lead‐free double, and vacancy‐ordered halide perovskites. Their detection performance is compared, material‐specific advantages and challenges are examined, and provides insight into current limitations and future ...

Light Switchable Ionic Conductivity of Arylazopyrazole Modified Polysiloxanes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
We present a polysiloxane functionalized with a novel arylazopyrazole dye that undergoes reversible photoisomerization. Upon lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide addition and UV irradiation, the polymer exhibits a shift in tan(d) toward higher frequencies and enhanced ionic conductivity.

Insights into the Process of Fish Diversity Pattern Changes and the Current Status of Spatiotemporal Dynamics in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area Using eDNA

open access: yesFishes
The ecological consequences of the construction and operation of the Three Gorges Reservoir, particularly its unique operation strategy of storing clear water and releasing turbid water, exerts a profound influence on the composition and dynamics of ...

Additive‐Manufactured, Multifunctional Bioreactor Technology for Dynamic Culture of 3D Bioprinted Tissue Models

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
We introduce an additively manufactured bioreactor with a perfusion flow system and integrated temperature and pH sensors for skeletal muscle tissue biofabrication. The bioreactor's performance was evaluated by assessing the viability, spreading of the myoblast cells in a printed scaffold, and contraction of the isolated murine musculi interossei ...

From Lab to Landscape: Environmental Biohybrid Robotics for Ecological Futures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This Perspective explores environmental biohybrid robotics, integrating living tissues, microorganisms, and insects for operation in real‐world ecosystems. It traces the leap from laboratory experiments to forests, wetlands, and urban environments and discusses key challenges, development pathways, and opportunities for ecological monitoring and ...

Fishing degrades size structure of coral reef fish communities

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, 2016
Fishing pressure on coral reef ecosystems has been frequently linked to reductions of large fishes and reef fish biomass. Associated impacts on overall community structure are, however, less clear. In size-structured aquatic ecosystems, fishing impacts are commonly quantified using size spectra, which describe the distribution of individual body sizes ...

Canagliflozin Alleviates Diabetic Glomerular Endothelial Injury via Melibiose in a Microbiota‐Dependent Manner

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Canagliflozin treatment reshapes the gut microbiota in DKD and elevates levels of melibiose, a metabolite derived from Roseburia intestinalis. Melibiose directly binds to and enhances the enzymatic activity of glyoxalase 1, leading to decreased methylglyoxal accumulation.

Cross-referencing unidentified fish sound data sets to unravel sound sources: a case study from the Temperate Northern Atlantic

open access: yesFrontiers in Remote Sensing
There is growing evidence that studying aquatic acoustic communities can provide ecologically relevant information. Understanding these communities may offer unique insights into species behaviour and ecology, while consolidating passive acoustic ...

Nanocellulose Alleviates Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy via Gut Microbiota‐Mediated Bile Acid Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nanocellulose, derived from microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) through sulfuric acid hydrolysis or mechanical grinding to produce CNC or CNF, was tested in a rat ICP model. Particularly, CNF improved gut microbiota composition, reduced secondary bile acid metabolism, and restored bile acid homeostasis through modulation of the gut–liver axis.
