IMPACT OF COMMERCIAL AND ISOLATED Bacillus amyloliquefaciens PROBIOTIC BACTERIA AND / OR OVERCROWDING ON GROWTH PERFORMANCE AND IMMUNE STATUS OF Oreochromis niloticus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Productivity and Development, 2019
A total number of two hundreds and seventy apparent healthy Oreochromis. niloticus (30.0±2.0 g) was used to evaluate the effect of dietary supplementation with probiotic bacteria (commercial and isolated Bacillus amyloliquefaciens) at a level of  0 ...

Thickness and Density of the Fish Body

open access: yesNIPPON SUISAN GAKKAISHI, 1937
The quantity, f=1, 000 w/l3, where w is the weight in g and l the length in cm of fish body, the so-called “quality indicator” or “condition factor, ” has been discussed by the writer to re-present the “fatness” of the sardine from the north-eastern parts of the bays of Sagami and Suruga (Bull. Jap. Soc. Sci. Fish., 3(6), 1933, 312-326). In the present

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Growth, yield and economic returns of striped catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) at different stocking densities under floodplain cage culture system

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Aquatic Research, 2020
The influence of stocking density plays one of the major roles in the final production for profitable aquaculture. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of stocking density on growth, yield and economic return of striped catfish ...

Effects of Low Stocking Densities on Zootechnical Parameters and Physiological Responses of Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) Juveniles

open access: yesBiology, 2021
The present study investigated the effect of low stocking density on growth, survival, feed parameters and physiological responses (blood metabolites, welfare indicators, immune biomarkers, and transcriptomic responses of stress and immune-related genes)

Density induced transition in a school of fish

open access: yesPhysica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 2012
AbstractCollective behaviour has been studied in various fields of science. As an example, we may consider the patterns observed in living systems, whose aggregates form organized groups such as flocks of birds, herds of mammals and schools of fish. These aggregates may be formed as a consequence of an external stimulus or due to the local interaction ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Collaborating effects of rearing density and oregano oil supplementation on growth, behavioral and stress response of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Aquatic Research, 2018
To investigate the impacts of rearing density and oregano essential oil (OEO) supplementation on growth, behavioral and stress response of Nile tilapia, a factorial design (3 × 3 × 2) was assembled using 18 (100 L) glass aquaria where each aquarium had a
