Nonlinear Dynamic analysis of vector-host model for Zika infection with predatory fish Gambusia Affinis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
In the present paper, we study the dynamics of a nine compartmental vector-host model for Zika virus infection where the predatory fish Gambusia Affinis is introduced into the system to control the zika infection by preying on the vector. The system has six practically feasible equilibrium points where four of them are disease-free, and the rest are ...

Spot‐14 and its paralog Spot‐14R regulate expression of metabolic and thermogenic pathway genes in murine brown and beige adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Spot‐14 and Spot‐14R play distinct roles in regulating metabolism in brown and beige adipocytes. While both influence lipid and glucose pathways, Spot‐14 uniquely controls thermogenic gene expression. This dual regulation balances energy storage and heat production, highlighting potential therapeutic targets for obesity and metabolic disorders. Spot 14

Evaluation of Methylene Blue as An Effective Antiseptic for Medicinal Leeches (Hirudo verbana)

open access: yesTürkiye Parazitoloji Dergisi
Objective: Medicinal leeches (Hirudo spp.) have been used for therapeutic purposes in humans since ancient times. Because of their growth conditions, leeches carry certain bacteria and endosymbionts (e.g., Aeromonas spp).

Underwater Fish Detection with Weak Multi-Domain Supervision [PDF]

open access: yes2019 International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN), Budapest, Hungary, 2019, pp. 1-8, 2019
Given a sufficiently large training dataset, it is relatively easy to train a modern convolution neural network (CNN) as a required image classifier. However, for the task of fish classification and/or fish detection, if a CNN was trained to detect or classify particular fish species in particular background habitats, the same CNN exhibits much lower ...

STAT3 expression is reduced in cardiac pericytes in HFpEF and its loss reduces cellular adhesion and induces pericyte senescence

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) accounts for half of the heart failure cases. It is characterised by microvascular dysfunction, associated with reduced pericyte coverage and diminished STAT3 expression in pericytes. Loss of STAT3 impairs pericyte adhesion, promotes senescence, and activates a pro‐fibrotic gene program.

A review of diseases associated with cage culture systems: diagnosis and control in smale scale fish farming [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Fish cage culture is a rapid aquacultural practice of producing fish with more yield compared to traditional pond culture. Several species cultured by this method include Cyprinus carpio, Orechromis niloticus, Sarotherodon galilaeus, Tilapia zilli ...
