Kinetics of fish meal oxidation

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1980
AbstractA mathematical model has been developed for the oxidation kinetics of fish meal, based on assumptions of the theory of gas liquid reactions and the kinetics of homogeneous oxidation reactions. This foresees that if diffusional control exists for the oxygen, the observed reaction will be of the first order with respect to this component.

U.S. DEMAND FOR FISH MEAL

1977
Fish meal quantity demanded is inelastic with respect to its own price and that of soybean meal but elastic with respect to chick and lagged broiler prices. Quantity demanded adjusts fairly rapidly to economic stimuli and in the long-run is elastic except with respect to the price of corn.

Trace metal contents of fish meal and of the lipid phase extracted from fish meal

Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 1973
AbstractIn fish meal produced industrially and in the laboratory from mackerel (Scomber scomber), herring (Clupea harengus), Norway pout (Boreogadus esmarkii) and capelin (Mallotus villosus), the following trace elements have been determined: cadmium, zinc, lead, copper, iron and cobalt, and, in the lipid phase extracted from the meals: selenium ...

Fish Meal and Oil

1990
The world’s catch of fish, crustaceans, and mollusks roughly equals 101 million tons (90 million metric tons) per year, of which 30 percent is processed into fish meal and oil. The preliminary breakdown of catch and fish meal and oil production by country for 1987 is shown in Table 20-1 (Bowman, 1988; Mielke, 1988).

Regime Shifts in the Fish Meal/Soybean Meal Price Ratio

Journal of Agricultural Economics, 2012
AbstractAquaculture growth has led to worries about overfishing and reduction in wild‐caught food fish supply because of increased demand for fish meal. As such, the price ratio between fish meal and soybean meal has received much attention as an indicator of changing market conditions. In recent years, the price ratio between these two commodities has

Levels of toxaphene indicator compounds in fish meal, fish oil and fish feed

Chemosphere, 1998
Three toxaphene indicator compounds were determined in fish oil and fish meal of different origin and raw material as well as in feed containing fish oil and fish meal. Fish oil and fish meal from South America contained no or only traces of the indicator congeners. The sum of the three compounds varied in fish oils from Europe between 13 micrograms/kg

Identification of the Fish Species Processed to Fish Meal

Journal of Aquatic Food Product Technology, 2002
Abstract As a consequence of the BSE crisis in Europe, the components of meal produced from fish or warm-blooded animals are under stricter control. PCR-based techniques for species identification of fish meal have been developed and applied to meals produced from a single species each, including herring, capelin, anchovy, horse mackerel and blue ...
