Accurate and noninvasive prostate cancer detection using plasma‐derived extracellular vesicle RNA

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plasma extracellular vesicles were captured with WGA‐conjugated magnetic beads and profiled for RNA biomarkers. A three‐RNA panel (NM_024955, NR_047469, and NR_002564) distinguished prostate cancer from healthy controls and benign prostatic hyperplasia, supporting a simple, noninvasive approach to improve prostate cancer detection.

Structural studies and functional engineering of NanX: an anhydro‐sialic acid transporter from Escherichia coli

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biophysical characterisation shows that NanX, a membrane transport protein from the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), forms both monomers and dimers after purification. AlphaFold modelling and substrate docking provide information on residues likely involved in substrate recognition for NanX and another MFS member, NanT.

Upstream and downstream migration speed of Prochilodus costatus (Characiformes: Prochilodontidae) in upper São Francisco basin, Brazil

open access: yesNeotropical Ichthyology
Details of migration dynamics of Neotropical fishes are poorly understood. This study aimed to examine upstream (spawning) and downstream (post-spawning) migration speeds, of curimatá-pioa (Prochilodus costatus) in the São Francisco River basin ...

Multiple Sclerosis Relapse Activity After Ozanimod Discontinuation in DAYBREAK Trial Participants

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Multiple Sclerosis Relapse Activity After Ozanimod Discontinuation in DAYBREAK Trial Participants. ABSTRACT Objective Return of disease activity is expected when patients discontinue disease‐modifying therapy (DMT) for multiple sclerosis (MS). Some MS DMTs are associated with higher‐than‐expected disease activity (rebound) after discontinuation.

Energetic Status Modulates Facultative Migration in Brown Trout (Salmo trutta) Differentially by Age and Spatial Scale

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution, 2019
Fish display a remarkable diversity in juvenile migration strategies and behavior. Intra-species variation in migration can be considerable, and understanding the driving force of such variation is important for effective management and conservation of ...

IV Thrombolysis Facilitates Interventional Reperfusion in Non‐Cardioembolic but Not Cardioembolic Stroke

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) before thrombectomy for ischemic stroke may alter clot structure and procedural performance. We investigated how IVT relates to thrombectomy metrics across stroke etiologies. Methods We performed a time‐to‐event analysis of consecutive patients with anterior circulation large vessel occlusion (acLVO ...

A Pilot Study on the Diel Vertical Migration Pattern of Mesopelagic Fishes in the Southern and Central South China Sea

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
The diel vertical migration of mesopelagic fishes in the southern (S-May station and S-Nov station) and central (C-Jun station and C-Dec station) South China Sea was investigated through a series of continuous field surveys conducted in May, June ...

One Hundred Pressing Questions on the Future of Global Fish Migration Science, Conservation, and Policy

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution, 2019
Migration is a widespread but highly diverse component of many animal life histories. Fish migrate throughout the world's oceans, within lakes and rivers, and between the two realms, transporting matter, energy, and other species (e.g., microbes) across ...

Comprehensive Characterization of 98 Chinese Cases of Genetic Creutzfeldt‐Jakob Disease With T188K Mutation

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To characterize the demographic, clinical, and laboratory features of the Chinese patients of genetic Creutzfeldt‐Jakob disease with T188K variant (T188K‐gCJD), the most common subtype of genetic prion diseases (gPrDs) in China. Methods In this nationwide retrospective study, data from 98 genetically confirmed T188K‐gCJD patients ...
