Innovative Cutting and Valorization of Waste Fishing Trawl and Waste Fishing Rope Fibers in Cementitious Materials

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The valorization of waste fishing trawl (WFT) and waste fishing rope (WFR) fibers in cementitious materials (CMs) has gained attention in recent years; however, the lack of information on the cutting and cleaning techniques for these fibers hinders their widespread commercial utilization.

A Skull Bone Marrow‐to‐Brain Axis Links Osteoblastic Activity to Myeloid Cell Trafficking, Cerebral Blood Flow, and Cognition in Alzheimer's Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that Alzheimer's disease–linked APP expression in bone‐forming cells drives skull bone marrow remodeling and alters its vascular connections to the brain. These changes disrupt immune cell trafficking, cerebral blood flow, and cognition. Targeting bone marrow macrophages restores brain function, highlighting a previously unrecognized

Fish waste as Biofertilizer / Nur Husnina Hadzeri [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Plant growth depends on the nutrient uptake from its surrounding mainly from the soil. Applying fertilizer in order to replace the nutrient loss due to uptake by plant may enhance the plant growth.

Efficient Direct Recycling of Spent Batteries: Integrated Lithiation and Delamination

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An integrated process for the delamination and relithiation of spent cathodes, LixNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 and LixFePO4, under open‐air conditions is proposed. The transition‐metal (Ni) oxidation state in the cathode is reduced by the oxidation of diethylene glycol, facilitating relithiation. Glycol aldehyde formation induces 100% electrode delamination.

Adsorption of Forever Chemical Pollutants: The Physical Chemistry of PFAS Near Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Current adsorption‐based remediation techniques for removing per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from water are limited by knowledge gaps on PFAS behavior near solid surfaces. This review provides a state of the art on theoretical and experimental aspects of PFAS adsorption.
