Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Cancer Immunoediting from Immunosurveillance to Tumor Escape in Microvillus-Formed Niche: A Study of Syngeneic Orthotopic Rat Bladder Cancer Model in Comparison with Human Bladder Cancer

open access: yesNeoplasia: An International Journal for Oncology Research, 2010
Cancer cells can develop an attenuated immunogenicity and/or create an immunosuppressive microenvironment to prevent tumor eradication by host immune system, the so-called “cancer immunoediting” hypothesis.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

The False Discovery Rate in Simultaneous Fisher and Adjusted Permutation Hypothesis Testing on Microarray Data

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ̒Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Qum, 2019
Background and Objectives: In recent years, new technologies have led to produce a large amount of data and in the field of biology, microarray technology has also dramatically developed.

Too Good to be False: Nonsignificant Results Revisited

open access: yesCollabra: Psychology, 2017
Due to its probabilistic nature, Null Hypothesis Significance Testing (NHST) is subject to decision errors. The concern for false positives has overshadowed the concern for false negatives in the recent debates in psychology.

Panel cointegration analysis of the Fisher effect: Evidence from the US, the UK, and Japan [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper analyzes the Fisher effect using a panel of monthly data from January 1990 to December 2010 for three major countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan.

Neutral Aggregation in Finite Length Genotype space

open access: yes, 2016
The advent of modern genome sequencing techniques allows for a more stringent test of the neutrality hypothesis of Darwinian evolution, where all individuals have the same fitness.

An examination of the Fisher Hypothesis: the case of Turkey

open access: yesApplied Economics, 2008
This study examines the famous Fisher Hypothesis (FH) for Turkey. FH asserts that nominal interest rates adjust on a one-to-one basis to expected changes in inflation rates. Using the Johansen cointegration method for the Turkish monthly interest rate and inflation rate data, we find that it is possible to determine the long-run relationship—but not ...

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

Structural Breaks, Inflation and Interest Rates: Evidence for the G7 countries [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper challenges the commonly used unit root/cointegration approach for testing the Fisher effect for the economies of the G7 countries. We first prove that nominal interest and inflation rate can be better represented as being broken trend ...
