Searching for Irving Fisher [PDF]

open access: yes
There is a long-standing debate as to whether the Fisher effect operated during the classical gold standard period. We break new ground on this question by developing a market-based measure of general inflation expectations during the gold standard ...

Validity of Fisher Hypothesis in Turkey by Using the Fourier Functions

open access: yes, 2020
anemonThe purpose of this paper is to analyze validity of Fisher hypothesis. This paper covers a period between 1985 and 2017. Structural breaks significantly affect the results of time series analyzes.

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

The Persistence of the R.A. Fisher-Sewall Wright Controversy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This paper considers recent heated debates led by Jerry A. Coyne and Michael J. Wade on issues stemming from the 1929-1962 R. A. Fisher-Sewall Wright controversy in population genetics. William B.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

FISHER HYPOTHESIS–THE ALBANIA CASE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The Fisher’s hypothesis is regarded as one of the most important hypothesis in macroeconomics. Fisher (1930) argued that the nominal interest rate consists of an expected ‘real’ rate plus an expected inflation rate and there exist a one-to-one positive ...

Exact Tests for Two-Way Contingency Tables with Structural Zeros

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Software, 2008
Fisher's exact test, named for Sir Ronald Aylmer Fisher, tests contingency tables for homogeneity of proportion. This paper discusses a generalization of Fisher's exact test for the case where some of the table entries are constrained to be zero.

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Is the Fisher Effect for Real? A Reexamination of the Relationship Between Inflation and Interest Rates [PDF]

open access: yes
The basic puzzle about the so-called Fisher effect, in which movements in short-term interest rates primarily reflect fluctuations in expected inflation, is why a strong Fisher effect occurs only for certain periods but not for others.
