Towards an integrated forecasting system for fisheries on habitat-bound stocks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
First results of a coupled modelling and forecasting system for fisheries on habitat-bound stocks are being presented. The system consists currently of three mathematically, fundamentally different model subsystems coupled offline: POLCOMS providing the ...

A Model for Fishery Forecast based on Cluster Analysis and Nonlinear Regression [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Intelligent Systems Research, 2014
There has been an increasing amount of research in the relationship between environmental factors and fishing yield. This paper adds to the body of knowledge by developing a new model for forecasting fishing yield. The model combines fishery domain expert knowledge, marine environmental factor data such as water temperature, chlorophyll ...

Coupled Wave-Storm Surge Modeling for Fishery Harbor Under Extreme Typhoon: Toward Risk-Based Dynamic Zoning of Fishing Vessel Berths

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Under climate change, the increasing typhoon intensity poses a severe threat to fishery harbor safety through storm surges and extreme waves. Traditional empirical management approaches fail to capture the complex wave-surge coupling inside harbors ...

Application of Gradient-Dependent Optimal Interpolation in Fishery Analysis of Neon Flying Squid (Ommastrephes bartramii) in the Kuroshio–Oyashio Confluence Region

open access: yesAnimals, 2023
A key issue in fishery forecasting is the collection of high-precision subsurface environmental data. A data assimilation method, named gradient-dependent optimal interpolation, was used to construct the near-real-time vertical temperature and salinity ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
