Long‐term shifts in pikeperch, Sander lucioperca, diet composition in a changing reservoir
Abstract As a significant piscivorous predator, the pikeperch (Sander lucioperca) plays a critical role in regulating aquatic ecosystems. Understanding its size‐related feeding behaviour is thus vital for assessing its impact. To evaluate its role in the ecosystem, stomach content analysis provides useful insights into predator–prey dynamics.

Food intake of early juvenile western Baltic cod (Gadus morhua) during settlement transition
Abstract This study examines the gut contents of 203 early juvenile Atlantic cod [17–101 mm ± 18.48 mm standard deviation (SD)] from the Western Baltic Sea (ICES Subdivision 22) collected between 2020 and 2022. According to the observed prey (proportion of pelagic, intermediate and benthic items) in the cod guts, settlement transition from a pelagic to

Abstract The flapper skate, Dipturus intermedius (Parnell, 1837), is a large‐bodied, slow‐growing and late‐maturing, Critically Endangered elasmobranch with a constrained population distribution. Here, we use two longitudinal community science datasets to investigate the occurrence of flapper skates in Irish waters. The two datasets are as follows: the

Abstract Recent molecular evidence showed that Labeo umbratus comprises two allopatrically distributed genetic lineages, a northern lineage confined to the Orange‐Vaal River system where this species was originally described and a southern lineage with three geographically separated haplogroups (western, central and eastern) distributed across multiple
