New fission-neutron-spectrum representation for ENDF [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
A new representation of the prompt fission neutron spectrum is proposed for use in the Evaluated Nuclear Data File (ENDF). The proposal is made because a new theory exists by which the spectrum can be accurately predicted as a function of the fissioning nucleus and its excitation energy.

The Possibilities of Fission Material Reproduction Increase in Thermal Reactor with the Assemblies with a Hard Neutron Spectrum

open access: yesScience and Technology of Nuclear Installations, 2011
This paper addresses the problem of fission material reproduction increase in thermal reactors. Reproduction increase is achieved while decreasing the fission material content in the fuel.

Fukushima plutonium effect and blow-up regimes in neutron-multiplying media

open access: yes, 2013
It is shown that the capture and fission cross-sections of 238U and 239Pu increase with temperature within 1000-3000 K range, in contrast to those of 235U, that under certain conditions may lead to the so-called blow-up modes, stimulating the anomalous ...

Application of the dinuclear system model to fission process

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2016
A theoretical evaluation of the collective excitation spectra of nucleus at large deformations is possible within the framework of the dinuclear system model, which treats the wave function of the fissioning nucleus as a superposition of a mononucleus ...

Modeling of the saturation current of a fission chamber taking into account the distorsion of electric field due to space charge effects

open access: yes, 2002
Fission chambers were first made fifty years ago for neutron detection. At the moment, the French Atomic Energy Commission \textsf{(CEA-Cadarache)} is developing a sub-miniature fission chamber technology with a diameter of 1.5 mm working in the current ...

Radiation damage caused by cold neutrons in boron doped CMOS active pixel sensors

open access: yes, 2017
CMOS Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (MAPS) are considered as an emerging technology in the field of charged particle tracking. They will be used in the vertex detectors of experiments like STAR, CBM and ALICE and are considered for the ILC and the ...

Improved modeling of photon observables with FREYA

open access: yes, 2017
The event-by-event fission model FREYA has been improved, in particular to address deficiencies in the calculation of photon observables. We discuss the improvements that have been made and introduce several new variables, some detector dependent, that ...

Reactor Neutrino Experiments: Present and Future

open access: yes, 2017
Reactor neutrinos have been an important tool for both discovery and precision measurement in the history of neutrino studies. Since the first generation of reactor neutrino experiments in the 1950s, the detector technology has been greatly advanced. New
