On prompt fission neutron spectrum in spontaneous fission of 252Cf

Annals of Nuclear Energy, 2014
Abstract In this work we use simple representations of prompt fission neutron spectrum in both the center of mass system of fission fragments and the laboratory system which takes into account the multiple neutron emission from fission fragments. The laboratory spectra are compared with the observed spectrum of prompt fission neutrons in spontaneous ...

Adjustment of the 235U Fission Spectrum

2001
The latest nuclear data are used to examine the sensitivity of the least squares adjustment of the 235U fission spectrum to the measured reaction rates, dosimetry cross sections, and prior spectrum covariance matrix. All of these parameters were found to be very important in the spectrum adjustment.

The β Spectrum Following Fission from ²⁵²Cf [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
The β spectrum from the fission products of 252Cf has been measured using a flat-field magnetic spectrometer. The active entrance aperture to the magnetic field region consisted of an annular plastic scintillator to veto slit scattering and a thin wire chamber to signal electrons on a good trajectory.

Prompt fission neutron multiplicity and spectrum evaluation [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2005
The prompt fission neutron multiplicity and spectrum for spontaneous fission and neutron induced reactions in the energy range of the first chance fission threshold are evaluated using the “point by point” approach that takes into account all possible fragmentations of the fissioning nucleus, the multi‐modal concept of fission and the most probable ...

Refinements in the Los Alamos model of the prompt fission neutron spectrum [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics A, 2017
This paper presents a number of refinements to the original Los Alamos model of the prompt fission neutron spectrum and average prompt neutron multiplicity as derived in 1982.

The fission neutron spectrum of U235

Nuclear Physics, 1962
Abstract A measurement of the low energy part (0.28−1.8 MeV) of the fission neutron spectrum of U 235 by means of Ilford L4 emulsion is described. The experimental arrangement allows the elimination of the depth measurements, which are a source of errors. The results fit a Maxwellian spectrum with energy parameter 1.20±0.10 MeV.

Fission neutron spectrum of 252Cf

Annals of Nuclear Energy, 1976
Abstract Average cross sections for the unmoderated spontaneous fission neutron spectrum of 252 Cf have been measured for 10 different threshold reactions by activation method. On the basis of the measured data and of the excitation functions the Maxwellian temperature for 252 Cf neutron spectrum has been deduced and a value of T = 1.41 ± 0.02 ...

Distribution of Fission Yields for Fission Spectrum Neutron-Induced Fission of Uranium-238

Nuclear Science and Engineering, 1977
The mass-yield distribution for the neutron-induced fission of /sup 238/U by degraded fission spectrum neutrons with an average energy of 1.52 MeV has been measured radiochemically for 26 mass chains in the region A = 89 to 153. Germanium-lithium gamma-ray spectroscopy coupled with beta-particle counting techniques was used to determine the absolute ...

Dose Rate Studies with Fission Spectrum Neutrons

Radiation Research, 1976
AINSWORTH, E. J., JORDAN, D. L., MILLER, M., COOKE, E. M., AND HULESCH, J. S. Dose Rate Studies with Fission Spectrum Neutrons. Radiat. Res. 67, 30-45 (1976). Fission spectrum neutrons produced by the JANUS reactor were used to test the hypothesis that no effect of dose rate or exposure time occurs when mouse lethality or hematopoietic injury is ...

The value of ν for fission spectrum induced and spontaneous fission of 238U

Journal of Nuclear Energy. Part A. Reactor Science, 1960
The effective value of nu for U/sup 238/ fission induced by a fission spectrum of fast neutrons was measured by the scattering technique and, much more accurately, by the coincidence technique. The result for the ratio of nu /sub 238// nu /sub 235/ (thermal) agreed with earlier values of comparable precision reported in the literature, and, when ...
