Can Fitness Trackers Track Sleep?

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Medicine, 2022
Technological advances over the years have led to the widespread use and popularity of consumer wearable devices. Although polysomnography and actigraphy are standard tools for objective evaluation of sleep, common wearable devices that can be used daily can aid with diagnosis and management of sleep disorders.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Tracking of cardiorespiratory fitness in Japanese men

open access: yesJournal of Physical Fitness and Sports Medicine, 2018
The stability of the relative order of cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) during adulthood has not been sufficiently investigated. This study investigated the tracking of CRF over a 7-year follow-up period in Japanese male adults aged 18-53 years.

Social Reflections on Fitness Tracking Data [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 2019 CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2019
Wearable activity trackers can encourage physical activity (PA)-a behavior critical for preventing obesity and reducing the risks of chronic diseases. However, prior work has rarely explored how these tools can leverage family support or help people think about strategies for being active-wo factors necessary for achieving regular PA.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Longitudinal associations of movement behaviours with body composition and physical fitness from 4 to 9 years of age: structural equation and mediation analysis with compositional data

open access: yesInternational Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity, 2023
Background The associations of movement behaviours (physical activity [PA], sedentary behaviour [SB], and sleep) with body composition and physical fitness from pre-school to childhood, as well as the direction of the associations, could provide ...
