The halo fixator may be used for the definitive treatment of cervical spine trauma, preoperative reduction in the patient with spinal deformity, and adjunctive postoperative stabilization following cervical spine surgery. Halo fixation decreases cervical motion by 30% to 96%.

Hip replacement has been a great achievement of orthopaedic surgery as it reliably abolishes pain and restores function. The success of this operation has lead to its use not only in the elderly, but increasingly, in the higher demand that younger patients whose life expectancy is longer than the longevity of the prostheses used to date.

For electron microscopic immunocytochemistry, the fixation procedure is always a compromise between good morphological preservation and retention of antigenicity. The choice of fixative depends on whether the immunogold labeling will be done before or after the samples are embedded and on how resistant the antigen is to fixation.

There is a broad consensus that understanding system desiderata (requirements) and design creativity are both important for software engineering success. However, little research has addressed the relationship between design creativity and the way requirements are framed or presented.

This article discusses and categorizes common metacarpal fractures and their treatments, including various techniques of obtaining skeletal fixation. It reviews metacarpal shaft fracture; intra-articular metacarpal head fractures; and metacarpal neck and base fractures including carpal-metacarpal dislocations, and Rolando's and Bennett's fractures of ...

ABSTRACT Fixation disparity may be a symptom of binocular stress or a purposeful error signal to drive vergence eye movements. Two similar units for detecting fixation disparity (Mallett and Sheedy units) are compared and evaluated. The Mallett unit was found to be more reliable, with similar readings in symptom‐free subjects, whereas

The great majority of forearm fractures in adults are best treated by open reduction and internal fixation. Although alternative methods exist, plate fixation is favored by most surgeons. With strict attention to surgical detail, complication rates are low and early active function is possible.
