High‐Durability Metal‐Doped Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 Catalysts for Reforming of Model Biomethanol

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 6, June 2026.
A series of metal‐doped Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 catalysts was synthesized and evaluated for the autothermal reforming (ATR) of model biomethanol containing trace ethanol or 1‐butanol as impurities to achieve higher biomethanol utilization. The doping of Ni, Ru, and Rh into CZA suppressed carbonaceous species deposition because of their increased ability to cleave

Recent Advances on Application of Modified Biochar for the Removal of Pharmaceutical Compounds from Wastewater

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 6, June 2026.
Modified biochar is an effective adsorbent for removing pharmaceutical contaminants from water. Physical and chemical modifications enhance its surface area, porosity, and functionality, enabling multiple adsorption mechanisms. These synergistic interactions improve removal efficiency.

Effect of Metal Cations on Selenite Bioreduction by a Consortium of Halophilic/Halotolerant Bacteria and/or Yeast

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 3, June 2026.
Evaluation the effects of potentially toxic co‐contaminating metal cations, including cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), and Zinc (Zn), on the bioreduction of selenite by a consortium of halotolerant and halophilic bacteria and/or yeast. ABSTRACT Selenium oxyanion pollution in the environment, often originating from anthropogenic industrial activities, causes ...

Denitrification performance, kinetics, and microbial community of methanol‐driven heterotrophic denitrification processes for treating nitrate‐rich water in recirculating mariculture system

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 3, June 2026.
Abstract Large‐scale application of methanol‐driven heterotrophic denitrification (MHD) biofilms to recirculating mariculture systems (RMSs) is constrained by the requirement of precise methanol dosage. The emergence of intelligent aquaculture offers an opportunity to address this challenge, necessitating a comprehensive understanding of the ...

Pulsation in a fixed‐bed reactor

AIChE Journal, 1963
AbstractRates of reaction were measured for the liquid phase hydrogenation of α‐methyl styrene in a pulsed, fixed bed reactor. Data at 80 psia and 55°C., using 0.5 wt. % palladium on ⅛″ Al2O3 spheres as a catalyst, indicated that the mass transfer of dissolved hydrogen to the catalyst surface controlled the rate of conversion of styrene to cumene ...

Kinetics of thermophilic anaerobes in fixed-bed reactors

Chemosphere, 2001
The main objective of this study is to estimate growth kinetic constants and the concentration of "active" attached biomass in two anaerobic thermophilic reactors which contain different initial sizes of immobilized anaerobic mixed cultures and decompose distillery wastewater.

STABILITY OF COUNTERCURRENTLY COOLED FIXED BED REACTORS

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1977
Abstract The extension of the Lyapunov direct method to distributed parameter systems is used to obtain sufficient conditions for the local stability of steady states in countercurrently cooled fixed bed catalytic reactors. The conditions are in form of inequalities which require only steady state information. The stability criteria are identified in

Fixed bed reactors

Catalysis Today, 1999
Abstract The present paper presents the phenomena occurring in fixed bed reactors spanning, from the small scale of single pellet, where reaction and diffusion are competing, to the macroscale of whole apparatus, where dispersion and heat transfer play an important role; the most important models used in describing the behaviour of fixed bed reactors

Asymptotic Observers for Fixed Bed Reactors

1993 American Control Conference, 1993
This paper deals with the on-line estimation of reactant and product concentrations in fixed bed reactors. It is shown how to extend to tubular reactors the asymptotic observer developed for stirred tank reactors. The proposed observer can be viewed as an alternative to classical observers (extended Kalman filter and extended Luenberger observer).
