Reactive Power Mitigation and Power Factor Correction in Power Transmission Networks Using Fixed Capacitor Bank

open access: yesInternational Journal of Emerging Science and Engineering
Improvement of the power factor and mitigation of reactive power for nonlinear loads is the aim of this article. Power factor plays a significant role in the efficiency of the Electrical power network: a 14-bus 330kV transmission network implemented in ...

Lung Cancer Patients Display Increased Expression of Bovine Meat and Milk Factor (BMMF) Proteins in Peritumor Alveolar Macrophages

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
Plasmid‐like DNA sequences frequently found in bovine milk and serum have been proposed as infectious agents promoting indirect carcinogenesis. This multi‐omics study detected immune cells positive for these bovine meat and milk factors (BMMFs) in patients with lung cancer, with BMMF expression inversely correlated with smoking intensity.

Correction of circuit breaker nuisance tripping on a 600 KVAR capacitor bank installed in a manufacturing plant done by Controlgear Electric Corporation (CEC) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Power factor correction is one way of improving the power quality of an electrical system. A facility can avoid extra charges in the electric bill by having a power factor above the limits set by the distribution utility.

Revisiting the Nexus Between Trade Liberalisation and Income Inequality: The Case of Sub‐Saharan African Countries

open access: yesInternational Journal of Finance &Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper examines the impact of trade liberalisation on income inequality across 24 Sub‐Saharan African (SSA) countries from 2000 to 2020. Using IV‐Tobit and 2SLS models, we consistently find that greater trade openness significantly exacerbates inequality in the region. Critically, we document an inverted U‐shaped relationship between trade

New Hydrazone Derivatives Featuring Isatin and Piperazine Moieties: Synthesis, Cytotoxicity Evaluation, and Molecular Modeling Studies

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this study, ten novel compounds (IPH1–IPH10) were designed by integrating three pharmacophores (isatin, piperazine, and hydrazone) commonly found in the molecular structures of anticancer agents. The target molecules were obtained by the reaction of in‐house prepared 4‐(4‐(pyridin/pyrimidin‐2‐yl)piperazin‐1‐yl)benzohydrazide with various ...

Spheromak Buildup in SSPX using a Modular Capacitor Bank [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The Sustained Spheromak Physics Experiment (SSPX) [1] was designed to address both magnetic field generation and confinement. The SSPX produces 1.5-3.5msec, spheromak plasmas with a 0.33m major radius and a minor radius of {approx}0.23m.
