Fixed‐cost transportation problems
Naval Research Logistics Quarterly, 1961AbstractThis paper formulates a fixed‐cost transportation problem as an integer program, describes some of its special properties, and suggests an approximate method of solution. Examples are given to demonstrate the approximation technique.

Degeneracy in fixed cost transportation problems
Mathematical Programming, 1975A perturbation method is introduced which transforms any fixed cost transportation problem F into a degeneracy-free equivalent F′. If a basic optimal solution to F′ is known, an optimal solution to F can be obtained by means of simple rounding.

The Effect of Fixed Payment on Hospital Costs
Journal of Health Politics, Policy and Law, 1995New Medicare regulations have replaced the cost-based system of reimbursement of capital expenditures by hospitals with a fixed payment per case based on assigned diagnostic-related groups. For the first time, hospitals must pay the governmental share of their capital costs.

Transportation cost allocation on a fixed route
Computers & Industrial Engineering, 2015Five fairness criteria are analyzed based on comprehensive practical consideration.Allocation models and algorithms are developed to satisfy multiple fairness axioms.Allocation method has stable performance for both optimal and non-optimal routes.Computational studies validate the advantages by comparison with multiple methods.

The Accounting Review, 1940
Abstract The article discusses about various issues related to fixed and variable costs. In considering the problem of the adoption of uniform accounting principles, it would seem that not enough attention is given to the matter of interpretative reporting. Once the bookkeeping principles have been established, the matter of preparing

Bertrand Competition in Markets with Fixed Costs
The B.E. Journal of Theoretical Economics, 2010This paper provides necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a pure strategy Bertrand equilibrium in a model of price competition with fixed costs. It unveils an interesting and unexplored relationship between Bertrand competition and natural monopoly.

Abstract The occurrence and impact of fixed cost messages are analyzed by means of an asymmetric information game and related to the sender's stake in persuading the receiver, and the cost of a message.

Heuristics for the fixed cost median problem
Mathematical Programming, 1982We describe in this paper polynomial heuristics for three important hard problems--the discrete fixed cost median problem (the plant location problem), the continuous fixed cost median problem in a Euclidean space, and the network fixed cost median problem with convex costs. The heuristics for all the three problems guarantee error ratios no worse than

Fixed costs rules are intended to provide certainty on how much an unsuccessful party is likely to be ordered to pay to the successful party under a party and party costs order. They are also intended to keep costs down to proportionate levels. This chapter first discusses the fixed costs that apply to simple cases which are either undefended, or where
