Semiparametric Fixed-Effects Estimator [PDF]
This paper describes the Stata implementation of Baltagi and Li's (2002) series estimator of partially linear panel data models with fixed effects. After a brief description of the estimator itself, we describe the new command xtsemipar. We then simulate

Effect of Azotobacter on fixed nitrogen
The rate of uptake of nitrite and nitrate by A. vinelandii has been measured; at the same time, the rate of formation and disappearance of ammonia (in the case of nitrite) and of both nitrite and ammonia (in the case of nitrate) have been determined.

On the Fixed-Effects Vector Decomposition [PDF]
This paper analyzes the properties of the fixed-effects vector decomposition estimator, an emerging and popular technique for estimating time-invariant variables in panel data models with group effects. This estimator was initially motivated on heuristic grounds, and advocated on the strength of favorable Monte Carlo results, but with no formal ...

LIKELIHOOD INFERENCE IN AN AUTOREGRESSION WITH FIXED EFFECTS [PDF]
We calculate the bias of the profile score for the regression coefficients in a multistratum autoregressive model with stratum-specific intercepts. The bias is free of incidental parameters. Centering the profile score delivers an unbiased estimating equation and, upon integration, an adjusted profile likelihood.

Optimal sample size in the multilevel modeling: Investigating the impact of the sample size on the random and fixed effects, using the TIMSS data [PDF]
Due to the increasing use of the multilevel models, determining the number of the samples is one of the major concerns of the researchers in this field, so the main purpose of this study is to investigate the optimal sample size in the two-level models ...
