In estimating logistic regression models, convergence of the maximization algorithm is critical; however, this may fail. Numerous bias correction methods for maximum likelihood estimates of parameters have been conducted for cases of complete data sets ...

ON THE EFFECTIVENESS OF FIXED RULES AND INDICATORS
Abstract The constancy parameter of fixed-rate-of-growth rules and the parameters of simple feedback laws, linking policy instruments to specified endogenous variables, can be determined optimally within a policy optimisation framework. An approach for doing this is described along with results using the National Institute of Economic and Social ...

All Out All the Time? Superstars and Incentives on the LPGA Tour
Using data from the 1995-2006 LPGA Tour, we analyse players’ response to the presence of Annika Sorenstam, a dominant champion on the LPGA Tour at the time. We find that the measures of players’ responses are highly sensitive to specification.

Analysis of Power-aware Buffering Schemes in Wireless Sensor Networks [PDF]
We study the power-aware buffering problem in battery-powered sensor networks, focusing on the fixed-size and fixed-interval buffering schemes. The main motivation is to address the yet poorly understood size variation-induced effect on power-aware ...

Effective actions with fixed points [PDF]
The specific form of the constant term in the asymptotic expansion of the heat kernel on an axially symmetric space with a codimension-two fixed-point set of conical singularities is used to determine the conformal change of the effective action in four dimensions. Another derivation of the relevant coefficient is presented.

Fixed-effect regressions on network data [PDF]
This paper considers inference on fixed effects in a linear regression model estimated from network data. An important special case of our setup is the two‐way regression model. This is a workhorse technique in the analysis of matched data sets, such as employer–employee or student–teacher panel data.
