Borsuk's antipodal and fixed-point theorems for correspondences without convex values [PDF]

open access: yes
We present an extension of Borsuk's antipodal theorem (existence of a zero) for antipodally approachable correspondences without convex values. This result is a generalization of Borsuk-Ulam Theorem and has a fixed-point equivalent formulation.Borsuk's ...

Fixed Points and Generalized Hyers-Ulam Stability

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2012
In this paper we prove a fixed-point theorem for a class of operators with suitable properties, in very general conditions. Also, we show that some recent fixed-points results in Brzdęk et al., (2011) and Brzdęk and Ciepliński (2011) can be obtained ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Common fixed points of set-valued mappings

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2001
The main purpose of this paper is to obtain a common fixed point for a pair of set-valued mappings of Greguš type condition. Our theorem extend Diviccaro et al. (1987), Guay et al. (1982), and Negoescu (1989).

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Approximate fixed points in metric spaces

open access: yes
The chances for a mapping taken at random from a given set of mappings to have approximate fixed points are studied in this paper. We start from the discrete case to range more abstract spaces as metric measure spaces.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Guide to the Realization of the ITS-90 - Metal Fixed Points for Contact Thermometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This paper is a part of guidelines, prepared on behalf of the Consultative Committee for Thermometry, on the methods for realizing the International Temperature Scale of 1990 (ITS-90).
