Hadronic production of $Ξ_{cc}$ at a fixed-target experiment at the LHC

open access: yes, 2014
In the paper, we present a detailed discussion on the $Ξ_{cc}$ production at a fixed target experiment at the LHC (After@LHC). The doubly charmed baryon $Ξ_{cc}$ is produced via the channel, ${\rm Proton} + {\rm Proton}\toΞ_{cc}+X$. In estimating its hadroproduction, we discuss three dominant subprocesses, e.g.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Fixed target issues for the Tevatron Upgrade

open access: yes, 1988
The Tevatron Upgrade poses some interesting prospects for the Fixed-Target program if an option to extract the high energy proton beam is preserved. This paper presents a summary of the advantages of increased energy for fixed target experiments, and ...

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

The D-optimal design of blocked and split-plot experiments with mixture components. [PDF]

open access: yes
So far, the optimal design of blocked and split-plot experiments involving mixture components has received scant attention. In this paper, an easy method to construct efficient blocked mixture experiments in the presence of fixed and/or random blocks is ...

Production of Open and Hidden Charm in Fixed-target Experiments at the LHC

open access: yesActa Physica Polonica B Proceedings Supplement
We discuss the production of \(D\) mesons and \(J/\psi \) quarkonia in proton–nucleus collisions in the fixed-target LHCb experiment. We consider gluon–gluon fusion within \(k_{\mathrm {t}}\)-factorization, processes initiated by intrinsic charm in the nucleon and perturbative recombination mechanism. All the mechanisms seem to be necessary to describe

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

Production of Λ hyperons in 4.0A GeV and 4.5A GeV carbon-nucleus interactions at the Nuclotron

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
The BM@N experiment (Baryonic Matter at the Nuclotron) is the first fixed-target experiment at the JINR NICA accelerator complex. In this work, data on the interactions of a carbon-ion beam with kinetic energies of 4.0A GeV and 4.5A GeV with C, Al, Cu ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.
