Sewage Sludge and Cashew Bagasse Biochars Promote Changes in Selected Physical Attributes Related to the Structure of Degraded Dryland Soil

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, EarlyView.
This study evaluated biochars from co‐pyrolysis of sewage sludge and cashew residues on physical quality of a degraded loamy sand soil. SPB applied at 20 Mg ha−1 reduced bulk density by 7.74%, whereas most porosity attributes were driven by soil reconsolidation rather than biochar. Aggregate stability varied with biochar type, with SPB promoting larger

An Analysis of Natural Variation Reveals That OsFLA2 Controls Flag Leaf Angle in Rice (Oryza sativa L.)

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Flag leaf angle (FLA) is an important outcrossing trait affecting the hybrid seed production in rice (Oryza sativa L.). Natural variation of FLA has been reported in rice, but the molecular basis for this variation is largely unknown.

Sensory and chemical profiles of bread derived from the novel semi‐ and wholegrain flour enrichment of Triticum aestivum L. old genotypes with organic stinging nettle

open access: yesJSFA reports, Volume 5, Issue 3, Page 104-112, March 2025.
Abstract Background Bread made from refined Triticum aestivum L. flour, a staple food in large parts of the world, is considered a nutrient security risk. Strategies used to enhance the nutritional and functional properties of wheat‐derived food products include the use of semi‐ or wholegrain flour, old genotypes, and enrichment through fortification ...

Biochar‐Induced Shifts in Fungal Community Structure and Their Association With Soil Physical Properties in Degraded Soil From the Brazilian Semiarid

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Soil degradation compromises ecosystem functioning. Biochar, a carbon‐rich amendment, has gained attention as a promising strategy to enhance soil structure and restore microbial balance. This study investigated the effects of two biochars, cashew bagasse biochar (CBB) and a co‐pyrolyzed biochar produced from sewage sludge and cashew pruning ...

Social life of free-living amoebae in aquatic environment— comprehensive insights into interactions of free-living amoebae with neighboring microorganisms

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Free-living amoebae (FLA) are prevalent in nature and man-made environments, and they can survive in harsh conditions by forming cysts. Studies have discovered that some FLA species are able to show pathogenicity to human health, leading to severe ...
