Numerical simulation study on combustion characteristics of square hollow oil pool fire in ship cabins [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
To study the combustion phenomenon of square hollow fire sources in ship cabins, PyroSim software was used to establish numerical models of different inner and outer edge lengths of the same fire source area. FDS software was used to numerically simulate

Plane flame furnace combustion tests on JPL desulfurized coal [PDF]

open access: yes
The combustion characteristics of three raw bituminous (PSOC-282 and 276) and subbituminous (PSOC-230) coals, the raw coals partially desulfurized (ca -60%) by JPL chlorinolysis, and the chlorinated coals more completely desulfurized (ca -75%) by JPL ...

Chemically Doped Conductive Polymers for Wearable Health Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Among conductive polymers, poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS), polyaniline (PANI), and polypyrrole (PPy) are the most studied and applied. Chemical doping significantly boosts intrinsic conductivity and mechanical robustness.

In Situ Photopolymerization of Smectic B Liquid‐Crystalline Electrolytes from Mesogenic Phosphate–Diacrylate/Ionic Liquid Complexes for High‐Performance Soft Ionic Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A flexible liquid‐crystalline electrolyte membrane via in situ photopolymerization of a phosphate‐functionalized mesogen, ionic liquid, and diacrylate monomer is developed. The resulting smectic B (SmB)‐phase structure enables 2D ion transport with high conductivity (10−4 S cm−1).

Experimental studies on flame propagation and quenching characteristics of premixed N2O and fuels in reduced–diameter channels

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
This study established a reduced-diameter combustion channel system to investigate combustion characteristics, detonation flame quenching, and attenuation using N2O and fuel mixtures. High-speed Schlieren photography was used to track the flame evolution

Buoyancy Effects on Concurrent Flame Spread Over Thick PMMA [PDF]

open access: yes
The flammability of combustible materials in a spacecraft is important for fire safety applications because the conditions in spacecraft environments differ from those on earth. Experimental testing in space is difficult and expensive.

Root‐Stimulated Movements in Mimosa Pudica for Biohybrid Robotic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that thermal and electrical stimulation of Mimosa pudica root induces movement of the petiole and pinnules without direct stimulation of the aerial organs, thereby enabling a plant‐based robotic gripper and providing a foundation for the development of intelligent and sustainable systems.
