Effect of Nozzle Height on the Combustion Dynamics of Jet Fires in Rotating Flow Fields

open access: yesFire
In this paper, the effect of nozzle height on the combustion dynamics of jet fires in rotating flow fields (JFRFFs) is systematically investigated through experimental and numerical simulations.

Study on the influence of enclosed vertical channels on downward flame spread over XPS thermal insulation materials

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2019
In this paper, the small-scale combustion experiments are carried out in combination with theoretical analysis to study the influence of length-width ratio (α) of enclosed vertical channel on the downward flame spread of XPS insulation material attaching

The Impacts of Three Flamelet Burning Regimes in Nonlinear Combustion Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Axisymmetric simulations of a liquid rocket engine are performed using a delayed detached-eddy-simulation (DDES) turbulence model with the Compressible Flamelet Progress Variable (CFPV) combustion model.

Chemically Doped Conductive Polymers for Wearable Health Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Among conductive polymers, poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS), polyaniline (PANI), and polypyrrole (PPy) are the most studied and applied. Chemical doping significantly boosts intrinsic conductivity and mechanical robustness.

In Situ Photopolymerization of Smectic B Liquid‐Crystalline Electrolytes from Mesogenic Phosphate–Diacrylate/Ionic Liquid Complexes for High‐Performance Soft Ionic Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A flexible liquid‐crystalline electrolyte membrane via in situ photopolymerization of a phosphate‐functionalized mesogen, ionic liquid, and diacrylate monomer is developed. The resulting smectic B (SmB)‐phase structure enables 2D ion transport with high conductivity (10−4 S cm−1).

Flame Length and Geometry as Key Indicators for Real-Time Thermal Stress Monitoring in a Multi-Burner Combustion Chamber [PDF]

open access: yesISPRS Annals of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences
This study investigates the relationship between flame length measurements and the temperature of the refractory lining in combustion chambers with multiple burners interacting in terms of fluid dynamics.

Temperature and pollution control in flames [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We apply control theory for PDEs to flame control. The targeted flame is calculated with complex chemistry. For pollutant control in flames we study both the control of temperature distribution in the flame and flame length at given fuel rate in the flow.

Flame extension lengths beneath a confined ceiling induced by fire in a channel with longitudinal air flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This paper investigates the length of flame extension for an impinging flame underneath the confined ceiling in a channel with longitudinal air flow. Previous works in this field have been primarily concerned with un-confined ceilings and no forced air ...

Waveguide Photoactuators: Materials, Fabrication, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Waveguide photoactuators convert guided light into mechanical motion. Their tethered‐flexible design enables minimally invasive surgery and confined‐space robotics. This review aims to guide materials selection, device design, and system integration, accelerating the transition of waveguide photoactuators from laboratory prototypes to versatile ...

Numerical simulation study on combustion characteristics of square hollow oil pool fire in ship cabins [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
To study the combustion phenomenon of square hollow fire sources in ship cabins, PyroSim software was used to establish numerical models of different inner and outer edge lengths of the same fire source area. FDS software was used to numerically simulate
