Parametric study of the thermodynamic algorithm for the prediction of steady flame spread rate [PDF]
The stationary flame spread rate has been calculated using the relationship based on the thermodynamic variational principle. It has been shown that proposed numerical algorithm provides the stable convergence under any initial approximation, which could be noticeably far from the searched solution.

Experimental study of flame spread underneath photovoltaic (PV) modules
The horizontal flame spread underneath a photovoltaic (PV) module (or a plate) was studied for various gap heights to understand the fundamental fire dynamics between it and a flat roof construction. In a number of experiments, an opaque black polymethyl

Unravelling the Secret of Sulfur Confinement and High Sulfur Utilization in Hybrid Sulfur‐Carbons
Thermal condensation of inverse vulcanized sulfur‐carbon hybrids enables a bottom‐up sulfur confinement strategy, in which a protective carbon phase is progressively constructed around sulfur species. The resulting carbon nanodomains covalently tether sulfur chains and stabilize radical intermediates. This integrated architecture effectively suppresses

Polymorph‐Specific Electronic Transduction in WO3 during Molecular Sensing
Metal‐oxide polymorphs with similar surface chemistry can nevertheless exhibit distinct sensing properties. In γ‐ and ε‐WO3, analyte adsorption appears comparable; yet, only ε‐WO3 induces a pronounced lattice electronic perturbation that accommodates charge in sub‐conduction band minimum states.

Scientific support for an orbiter middeck experiment on solid surface combustion [PDF]
The objective is to determine the mechanism of gas-phase flame spread over solid fuel surfaces in the absence of any buoyancy or externally imposed gas-phase flow.

Path‐decoupled III–V van der Waals memtransistors spatially separate ionic and electronic transport to overcome the conventional trade‐off between accuracy and energy in neuromorphic hardware. Mobile K+ ions in the vdW gaps set a wide conductance window, Gmax/Gmin, while gate‐tunable hole conduction lowers programming energy, enabling reliable ...

Opposed-Flow Flame Spreading in Reduced Gravity [PDF]
Experimental results obtained in drop towers and in Space Shuttle based experiments coupled with modelling efforts are beginning to provide information that is allowing an understanding to be developed of the physics of opposed-flow flame spread at ...
