Optical manipulation of sphingolipid biosynthesis using photoswitchable ceramides [PDF]
Ceramides are central intermediates of sphingolipid metabolism that also function as potent messengers in stress signaling and apoptosis. Progress in understanding how ceramides execute their biological roles is hampered by a lack of methods to ...

A Mussel‐Inspired Bioadhesive Patch to Selectively Kill Glioblastoma Cells
An innovative mussel‐inspired bioadhesive patch has been developed for post‐surgical glioblastoma treatment. The patch, which adheres strongly in biological environments, releases a localized treatment. This treatment, acting via reactive oxygen species, shows specific toxicity to glioblastoma cells.

Doubled lifespan and patient‐like pathologies in progeria mice fed high‐fat diet [PDF]
Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGPS) is a devastating premature aging disease. Mouse models have been instrumental for understanding HGPS mechanisms and for testing therapies, which to date have had only marginal benefits in mice and patients ...

Ambulatory glucose profile: Flash glucose monitoring.
Ambulatory glucose profile (AGP) is a novel way of assessing glycaemic levels on a 24 hour basis, through a minimally invasive method, known as flash glucose monitoring. This review describes the unique features of AGP, differentiates it from existing methods of glucose monitoring, and explains how it helps pursue the glycaemic pentad.

A pragmatic real-life study of flash glucose monitoring versus self-monitoring of blood glucose. [PDF]
The aim of this study was to investigate if the flash glucose level monitoring system (FGM) is better than traditional self-monitoring of blood glucose level (SMBG) in helping patients in the outpatient clinic control their blood glucose and improve glycaemic control measured by the concentration of glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c).This was an ...

Endocytic Control of Cell‐Autonomous and Non‐Cell‐Autonomous Functions of p53
NUMB Ex3‐containing isoforms localize to the plasma membrane, where they recruit p53 through SNX9 and direct it to multivesicular bodies and exosomes. Exported p53 is taken up by neighboring cells and activates nuclear programs, revealing an intercellular, exosome‐based pathway that might help establish a tumor‐suppressive microenvironment.
