Estimation of flash point

Fire and Materials, 1988
AbstractA general correlation has been obtained for estimation of closed‐cup flash point of organic compounds from their normal boiling points. Estimated flash points are within a deviation of about 10% of reported values. However, separate correlations have been obtained and recommended for acids and alcohols for estimation of flash points for more ...

Flash Point Relationships

2013
Chapter 9 explores the barometric correction applied to flash point test results, the bias between the various test methods, the effect of viscosity on flash point results, and the relationship between flash point and various measures of volatility such as boiling point and boiling range data from simulated distillation.

Jet Fuel Flash Point Reduction

1979
Forecasts of petroleum product demands show greater growth rates for distillates including jet fuels than for gasolines. Jet fuels are in direct competition with other distillates for the same part of the barrel; increasing jet fuel volume by incorporating gasoline fractions would decrease flash point.

Chapter 1: Flash Point History

1992
In 1973, the ASTM Coordinating Committee for Flash Point and Related Properties was formed. From its beginning, the Committee's major objective was preparing information on flash point. It was felt that a compilation on flash point methods and Government regulations would be beneficial to the public.

Flash Point of Binary Mixtures

2018
A model for calculating the Flash Point (FP) of binary mixtures was developed and applied to ethanol/n-octane mixtures. The non-ideality of the mixture was taken into account. This non-ideality leads to values of FP lower than those of the pure components. The effect of pressure on the FP was also quantified.
