Retention of data in heat-damaged SIM cards and potential recovery methods
Examination of various SIM cards and smart card devices indicates that data may be retained in SIM card memory structures even after heating to temperatures up to 450oC, which the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has determined to be

A thermo-frictional tyre model including the effect of flash temperature [PDF]
A new tyre model is developed that can predict the influence of both macroscopic and local flash temperature on tyre force generation. The model comprises two heat-transfer solvers.

Review of flash sintering with strong electric field
Flash sintering is a novel field‐assisted sintering technology for ceramics that allows a dramatic reduction in processing time and temperature. Since 2010, when flash sintering was first reported, it has been a focus of research interest in the field of

Knowledge of, and response to, upland flash flooding: a case study of flood risk management of the 2005 flash flood in upper Ryedale, North Yorkshire, U.K. [PDF]
The dangerous hazard posed by flash flooding to upland communities is likely to increase due to climate change. The flood risk management policy approach has become predominant since the 1990s, with an emphasis on the public awareness of, and responses ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

A study of trilateral flash cycles for low-grade waste heat recovery-to-power generation [PDF]
There has been renewed significance for innovative energy conversion technologies, particularly the heat recovery-to-power technologies for sustainable power generation from renewable energies and waste heat. This is due to the increasing concern over

Flash temperature measurement during dry friction process at high sliding speed [PDF]
An experimental method is presented in this paper to measure flash temperatures of sliding surfaces. High sliding velocities are reached by using a ballistic set-up equipped with a high speed camera.

Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.
