CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Effect of thermal insulation on microstructural homogeneity and onset temperature of flash sintered materials

open access: yes, 2023
The present work aimed to reduce the microstructure heterogeneity inherent to flash sintering by using alumina blankets as a thermal insulator around ZnO cylindrical samples during the sintering process, under different electric field conditions. Thermal

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Flash sintering scaling-up challenges: Influence of the sample size on the microstructure and onset temperature of the flash event

open access: yes, 2020
The influence of sample size on microstructure, density, and onset temperature of the flash event was investigated for 3 mol% yttria-stabilised zirconia (3YSZ).

Defect Termination of Flash-Lamp-Crystallized Large-Grain Polycrystalline Silicon Films by High-Pressure Water Vapor Annealing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
High-pressure water-vapor annealing (HPWVA) is performed on 3-µm-thick polycrystalline silicon (poly-Si) films formed on glass substrates by crystallizing electron-beam (EB)-evaporated precursor amorphous Si (a-Si) films by flash lamp annealing (FLA ...

Influence Of Flash Temperature On Exergetical Performance Of Organic Flash Cycle

open access: yes, 2013
Organic Flash Cycle (OFC) has potential of improving efficiency for recovery of low temperature heat sources mainly due to reducing temperature mismatch in the heat exchanger. In this work exergetical performance analysis of ORC is conducted for recovery of low grade heat source.

The crystal structure of the Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase BBE22 resolves a long‐standing annotation error

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase (PncA/BBE22) reveals the correct full‐length protein initiated from a non‐canonical AUU start codon. The structure validates previous biochemical findings and resolves a long‐standing annotation error, demonstrating that the truncated database sequence is structurally incompatible with the ...

A Method to Evaluate Explosive Crystallization Velocity of Amorphous Silicon Films during Flash Lamp Annealing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Flash lamp annealing (FLA) of micrometer-order-thick amorphous silicon (a-Si) films can induce explosive crystallization (EC), high-speed lateral crystallization driven by the release of latent heat.
