Critical flashover voltage of fiberglass distribution line pole
Proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Properties and Applications of Dielectric Materials (Cat. No.00CH36347), 2002This paper presents the results of a study of the critical flashover (CFO) voltage of a single fiberglass distribution line pole and its combination with polymer and porcelain insulators. Special attention was made to evaluate the added CFO by the fiberglass distribution pole to the insulators as a second component in the distribution line pole ...

Composite Material’s Flashover Voltage Estimation Experimentally/Numerically
2019 21st International Middle East Power Systems Conference (MEPCON), 2019Epoxy resins are electrical insulation composite materials used in electrical industrial applications due to the their excellent electrical insulation properties and ability to protect the electrical components from environmental condition. The aim of this paper is to estimate flashover voltage of the epoxy resins under medium to high voltages in ...

Insulator surface conduction state and surface flashover voltage
Proceedings of 1995 Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena, 2002The withstand of aged and or contaminated insulators has to be tested in a humid environment under controlled conditions. However, during the humidification the conduction state of the aged and/or contaminated insulators shows a temporal variation.

Flashover Voltage Characteristics of Segmented Diverter Strips
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1999<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">The flashover voltage characteristics of different types of segmented diverter strips were determined. Especially the resistive layer on the rear side of the strip, which protect the strip from electrostatic discharges, has a major influence on the flashover characteristics.

Using Corrected Criteria to Model Flashover Voltage of Polluted Insulators
2006 IEEE International Power and Energy Conference, 2006In this paper, a dynamic model to calculate the flashover voltage of polluted insulators is presented. This paper focuses mainly on two points: The criterion of arc propagation and the arc length in which the flashover occurs. For first point, the typical criteria of arc propagation are not regarded but also the main criterion of arc propagation is ...

Flashover voltage of high-voltage insulators with uniform surface-pollution films
Proceedings of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1969Contamination on the surface of high-voltage outdoor insulators can lead to the formation of quasistable gas discharges, which burn in series with the resistive contaminative film. Under certain conditions, these discharges may grow to cause a complete flashover. In this paper, a model for the case of a discharge burning on a rectangular polluted strip

Insulator flashover in SF6 under impulse voltage conditions
IEE Proceedings A Science, Measurement and Technology, 1991The paper describes a study of the impulse-flashover characteristics of insulating spacers in an SF6-gas environment. Measurements have been made using 0.15/20 μs and 0.15/1500 μ/s waveforms for:(a) plain cylindrical spacers(b) spacers with a defect at the insulator/gas/electrode triple junction(c) spacers with metal inserts which shift the maximum ...

Prediction of flashover voltage based on leakage current under AC operating voltage
2010 International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Application, 2010In this paper, a model to predict the AC flashover voltage of contaminated suspension insulators was presented. The prediction method is based on the maximum leakage current under AC operating voltage. Three kinds of widely used suspension insulators were tested in various contamination statuses such as pollution layers with different ESDD, different ...

Calculation of flashover voltage of polluted insulators under DC and AC voltages
Proceedings., Second International Conference on Properties and Applications of Dielectric Materials, 2003The flashover processes of polluted insulators under both DC and AC voltages were observed with a high-speed camera. Physical and mathematical models to describe the DC and AC flashover are proposed. A formula expressing the resistance of the remainder pollution layer of a polluted insulator is derived.
