Getters for flat-panel displays
Proceedings of the IEEE, 2002Getters play a crucial role in solution of the main technical issues on the way to commercial exploitation of new flat-panel technologies: packaging, reliability and lifetime. The production steps of flat-panel displays (FPDs) often include a long baking and exhaust process to minimize the impurity content prior to the final sealing, which dramatically

Our window into the Information Age is increasingly an interactive electronic display rather than the printed page. From computer terminals to television, that display is usually a CRT, but recent advances have raised flat panels into contention with the CRT for new applications.

Evolution of flat-panel displays
Proceedings of the IEEE, 1994The evolution in performance and manufacturability of liquid-crystal displays has created a new reality in the electronic information displays industry. LCD's now outnumber all other flat-panel displays in production volume, by more than two orders of magnitude. LCD's may equal CRT's in market sales by the year 2000.

Flat Panel Displays for Portable Systems
Journal of VLSI signal processing systems for signal, image and video technology, 1996Flat panel display technologies for portable and personal information systems are reviewed. The display sub-system performance requirements, and the metrics for evaluating display technologies for portable systems are discussed. The current display technology choices for high performance portable systems are active matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD)

Automultiscopic display by revolving flat-panel displays
2008 IEEE Virtual Reality Conference, 2008This paper discusses the implementation of an automultiscopic omni-directional display. By rotating a flat-panel display whose viewing angle is strictly limited, or has sharp directivity, different and independent views are presented to different viewpoints.

Wedge Optics in Flat Panel Displays
Proceedings of the IEEE, 2013Liquid crystal display (LCD) technology will struggle to display high resolution on screens as big as whiteboards. Yet there is demand also for less power consumption, 3-D images, and that the display should be able to see gestures and feel touch. Most of these features are possible with projection and wedge light guides make projection slim, but ...

Flat panel display – Impurity doping technology for flat panel displays
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 2005Features of the flat panel displays (FPDs) such as liquid crystal display (LCD) and organic light emitting diode (OLED) display, etc. using low temperature poly-Si (LTPS) thin film transistors (TFTs) are briefly reviewed comparing with other FPDs.
