Visualization of three dimensional data [PDF]

open access: yes
The objective of research is to characterize patterns of errors observers make when relating the judged exocentric direction of a target presented on a perspective display to their egocentric sense of visual direction.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

0.68% of solar-to-hydrogen efficiency and high photostability of organic-inorganic membrane catalyst

open access: yesNature Communications
Solar-driven flat-panel H2O-to-H2 conversion is an important technology for value-added solar fuel production. However, most frequently used particulate photocatalysts are hard to achieve stable photocatalysis in flat-panel reaction module due to the ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Fabrication of absorbing Nb-Ti suboxide anti-reflective thin film stacks

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2019
Optically black anti-reflective coatings that absorb light are potentially useful for color isolation in the flat panel display industries and stray light reduction in imaging technologies.

Underlying events in p+p collisions at LHC energies

open access: yes, 2011
General properties of hadron production are investigated in proton-proton collisions at LHC energies. We are interested in the characteristics of hadron production outside the identified jet cones. We improve earlier definitions and introduce surrounding

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
