Transient conjugate free convection from a vertical flat plate in a porous medium subjected to a sudden change in surface heat flux [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Engineering Science, Vol. 36, No. 2, pp. 207-214, 1998, 2015
The paper presents a theoretical study using the Karman-Pohlhausen method for describing the transient heat exchange between the boundary-layer free convection and a vertical flat plate embedded in a porous medium. The unsteady behavior is developed after the generation of an impulsive heat flux step at the right-hand side of the plate.

A histidine‐rich extension of the mitochondrial F0 subunit ATP6 from the ice worm Mesenchytraeus solifugus increases ATP synthase activity in bacteria

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The glacier ice worm Mesenchytraeus solifugus survives year‐round at 0 °C. Its ATP6 subunit, which forms a regulatory component of the proton pore in mitochondrial ATP synthase, has a carboxy‐terminal extension not found in any other organism examined to date. Here, we show that fusion of this extension to the homologous AtpB protein in E. coli results

Functional variation among LPMOs revealed by the inhibitory effects of cyanide and buffer ions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study addresses the inhibition of lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) by cyanide and explains how and why the magnitude of observed inhibitory effects depends on the way LPMO reactions are setup and on the type of LPMO. Enzymes known as lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) are mono‐copper polysaccharide‐degrading peroxygenases that ...

Experimental Investigation of the Effects of Preheating on Still Productivity

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energetica, 2020
Single basin solar still (SBSS) has low productivity in this experimental research, some techniques have been employed to solve this problem, these techniques consist of using a flat plate collector.

Ablation of LRP6 in alpha‐smooth muscle actin‐expressing cells abrogates lung inflammation and fibrosis upon bleomycin‐induced lung injury

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Low‐density lipoprotein receptor‐related protein 6 (LRP6) is a key receptor for the Wnt antagonist Dickkopf1 (DKK1). DKK1 protein expression is induced in a bleomycin (BLM)‐induced lung injury model. We show that DKK1 induces proinflammatory and profibrotic genes in lung fibroblasts.

Derivation Mathematical Formulas For Tilt Angles of a Flat Plate Sun Trucking Collector with a Simulation In C++ Language [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2010
In this paper a mathematical formula was driven to estimate the tilt angle ofsurface from horizontal Σ and the surface azimuth angle Ψ for a flat plate solarcollector which gives maximum total incident solar radiation on a flat plate solarcollector ...

Casimir densities for parallel plate in the Domain Wall background [PDF]

open access: yesClass.Quant.Grav. 20 (2003) 2669-2676, 2003
The Casimir forces on two parallel plates in conformally flat domain wall background due to conformally coupled massless scalar field satisfying mixed boundary conditions on the plates is investigated. In the general case of mixed boundary conditions formulae are derived for the vacuum expectation values of the energy-momentum tensor and vacuum forces ...

Transient Characteristics of Flat-plate Solar Collector

open access: yesBulletin of JSME, 1982
A flat-plate solar collector moidel with uniform capacity distribution was proposed, and its basic equations were derived, to discuss transient characteristics for periodic solar-intensity variation. The finite difference calculations based on these equations showed better agreement with the experimental results than the results calculated by a ...

Multivariable controller for stationary flat plate solar collectors [PDF]

open access: yes2018 7th International Conference on Systems and Control (ICSC), 2018
The water flow rate control, which is the principal control loop required to operate stationary solar fields, can be as simple as designing a PID controller for a unique pump whose behavior can be approximated by a first-order system with delay. Nevertheless, when the water flow rate is manipulated with multiple actuators (pumps or valves), the problem

Taurine promotes glucagon‐like peptide‐1 secretion in enteroendocrine L cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Taurine, a sulfur‐containing amino acid, is likely taken up by enteroendocrine L cells via the taurine transporter. This process increases the levels of cytosolic ATP. The increase in intracellular Ca2+ concentrations and glucagon‐like peptide‐1 secretion through membrane depolarization is caused by the closure of ATP‐sensitive potassium channels ...
