Dorsal Raphe VIP Neurons Are Critical for Survival‐Oriented Vigilance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
DRNVIP neurons in mice and primates are strategically positioned to influence the central extended amygdala via feedback loops. They regulate the excitability of PKC‐δ neurons in the ovBNST and CeA through glutamate release. Their ablation heightens activity in these regions, disrupts active‐phase sleep architecture, enhances risk assessment behaviors ...

Investigation Into the Dynamics of the Cupula in the Vestibular Organ of Adult Zebrafish Using Metabolic Glycoengineering

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The cupula is a membrane within the vestibular organ that senses rotatory accelerations of the head. Metabolic glycoengineering in combination with bioorthogonal labeling demonstrates that in adult zebrafish – being a model for the human inner ear – this membrane is constantly renewed.

Non-stationary behavior of roof drainage systems

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
This paper reports the non-stationary behavior of a roof drainage during experimental measurement in the climate simulator. Many buildings use a fully or partially flat roof where it is necessary to use the roof drainage.

The influence of photovoltaics on roof thermal performance - an analysis of convective heat transfer coefficients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In a Mediterranean climate, given the absence of snow, flat roofs are typical of both vernacular and modern architecture. Thermal mass, cross ventilation and night time cooling are standard passive design aids that inhibit indoor temperature build-up on ...

SUB-SURFACE GROWING AND BOUNDARY GENERALIZATION FOR 3D BUILDING RECONSTRUCTION [PDF]

open access: yesISPRS Annals of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2012
The automatic reconstruction of 3D building models from airborne point cloud data is still an ongoing research topic. Especially for complex roof shapes, the identification of sub-shapes, the generation of roof boundaries and the construction to well ...

Polyurethane adhesives in flat roofs [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
It is necessary to stabilize individual layers of flat roofs, mainly because of wind suction. Apart from anchoring and surcharge, these layers can be secured by bonding. At present gluing is an indispensable and widely used stabilization method. On our market we can found many types of adhesives, most widely used are based on polyurethane.

Unveiling a New Link: Cholesterol Deficiency in Smith–Lemli–Opitz and Niemann–Pick C as a Driver of Ciliopathies

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The ciliopathies are a group of genetic disorders caused by defective function of either the primary cilia (a large number) or the motile cilia (a much smaller number). These have been defined as diseases with mutations in genes encoding individual ciliary or cilia‐associated proteins.

Don't Worry About Her; Intersectionality, and the Role of Systems and Structures in the Embodied Experiences of Young Women's Use of Violence

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Systems and structures designed to protect and support young people, specifically (in this paper) young women, are ironically the same systems that maintain gender disparity. Consequently, this has influenced the embodied identities of young women who experience and use violence. Such systemic and structural intersectionality has impacted upon
