3D Soft Hydrogels Induce Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells “Deep” Quiescence
Three‐dimensional soft hydrogels mimicking the bone marrow niche induce deep quiescence in human mesenchymal stem cells. Unlike 2D culture, 3D matrices halt proliferation, regulate cell‐cycle and quiescence markers, and downregulate mTORC1 signaling, preserving stem cell phenotype and therapeutic potential ex vivo.

Punching shear failure in slab-column connections is a brittle collapse mode that threatens the safety of flat reinforced concrete (RC) slabs. Conventional design provisions are generally conservative but exhibit inconsistencies across geometric and ...

Alternative approach to all-angle negative refraction in two-dimensional photonic crystals
We show that with an appropriate surface modification, a slab of photonic crystal can be made to allow wave transmission within the band gap. Furthermore, negative refraction and all-angle-negative-refraction (AANR) can be achieved by this surface ...

Structural robustness of concrete flat slab structures
Current building regulations for design against progressive collapse normally use prescriptive rules and risk based qualitative scales which are insufficient to cover current needs in design. Structural robustness of concrete flat slab structures is examined using different theoretical models to capture the dynamic behavior under accidental events.

Fluorene‐functionalized spiro‐phenothiazine (PTZ‐Fl) exhibits strong Li+ affinity and thermal stability, enabling a PCE of 25.75% in small‐area cells and 22.07% in 25 cm2 modules. Under ISOS‐L3 conditions, PTZ‐Flbased devices retain over 80% efficiency after 1000 hours, demonstrating superior stability and scalability compared to spiro‐OMeTAD for next ...

Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.

Solvent‐Free Thermal Defect Engineering in Molecular Frameworks With Volatile Linkers
Thermal removal of neutral volatile linkers enables precise and solvent‐free generation of metal vacancies in MOFs. This strategy affords redox‐stable, coordinatively unsaturated FeII sites with tunable spin, ligand coordination, and catalytic behavior. The approach offers a general route to design defect‐functional materials through local coordination

Analytical Model for Estimating Long Term Deflections of Two Way Reinforced Concrete Slabs
An analytical model for the calculation of long term deflections of reinforced concrete two way slab, flat slab and flat plate floor systems is proposed in this paper. The proposed analytical model takes into account the significant factors influencing ...

Thermal modeling of subduction zones with prescribed and evolving 2D and 3D slab geometries
The determination of the temperature in and above the slab in subduction zones, using models where the top of the slab is precisely known, is important to test hypotheses regarding the causes of arc volcanism and intermediate-depth seismicity.
