Monitoring field susceptibility to imidacloprid in the cat flea: a world-first initiative twelve years on [PDF]
In 2001, an international surveillance initiative was established, utilising a validated larval development inhibition assay to track the susceptibility of cat flea isolates to imidacloprid. In 2009, an Australian node was incorporated into the programme,

The cabbage stem flea beetle (Psylliodes chrysocephala) is a major pest of winter oilseed rape (Brassica napus). We tested B. napus and Sinapis alba seedlings for feeding resistance and underlying chemical defenses. S. alba was least damaged, while metabolite profiles revealed resistance‐linked compounds, highlighting breeding potential for insect ...

We screened a panel of 98 Brassicaceae genotypes (97 Brassica napus and 1 Sinapis alba) for cabbage stem flea beetle (Psylliodes chrysocephala) larval antibiosis. We found limited evidence for antibiosis across B. napus but consistent antibiosis in S. alba. Brassicaceae relatives may therefore better inform resistance traits for breeding.

Flea infestation in a Nigerian local chicken:
Fleas refer to a blood-sucking wingless insect of the Order: Siphonaptera. They are parasites in their own right and also act as vectors which transmit diseases (Soulsby, 1982). Their bites leave wounds which become portals of entry for infection. There are three important Genera fleas that infest poultry. Echidnophaga gallinacea, the small stick fast (

Flea infestation on small wild mammals in Gharyan, Northwest Libya
Fleas play a major role as vectors for many pathogens that affect humans and livestock. Wild animals, especially wild rodents, are the most important hosts, acting as reservoir hosts for many flea species and pathogens. This study aimed to identify seasonality and hosts of fleas that parasitize small wild mammals in Gharyan, north-western Libya.Fleas ...

Behavioural manipulation of Psylliodes chrysocephala provides promising opportunities for sustainable pest management in oilseed rape systems. This review synthesises evidence on glucosinolates and their volatile isothiocyanate derivatives as phagostimulants and attractants, alongside the repellent or antifeedant effects of non‐host plants, plant ...

Intercropping winter oilseed rape with spring faba bean reduced cabbage stem flea beetle and pollen beetle damage but also reduced crop yield. Sowing the intercrop simultaneously with winter oilseed rape was essential to maximize crop protection against cabbage stem flea beetles. Abstract BACKGROUND Winter oilseed rape (WOSR, Brassica napus) is a major

Intercropping mitigates incidence of the oilseed rape insect pest complex
Intercropping reduces the incidence of the oilseed rape insect pest complex with a significant impact of the direct visual and physical disruption provided by the companion plant. Abstract BACKGROUND Oilseed rape (OSR, Brassica napus) is a major crop requiring numerous phytosanitary treatments.
