Finding an Objective Cost for Sliceable Flexgrid Transponders [PDF]
We analyze the objective cost of SBVTs as a function of the traffic conveyed by IP/MPLS-over-flexgrid networks. Optimal results show that cost increment with respect to BVTs is related to the aggregation level.

Flexgrid Technologies Enabling BRAS Centralization in MANs [PDF]
In an evolutionary metro-regional area network (MAN) scenario, targeting the centralization of the broadband remote access server (BRAS), flexgrid technologies can be suitably tailored to be applied. We investigate their applicability, proposing network architecture and data plane solutions to improve the spectrum and network efficiency, while reducing

Designing National IP/MPLS Networks with Flexgrid Optical Technology [PDF]
We propose a two-step procedure to design flexgrid-based national networks. Locations are first partitioned into a set of metro areas interconnected through a flexgrid optical network. The problem is modeled as a Mixed Integer Linear Programming (ILP). Next, each network is designed separately.

Filter Optimization in SDN-based Flexgrid Networks
The novel super-filter technique for flexgrid optical networks is proposed to compact spectrum-contiguous lightpaths. The technique is applied in a specifically extended SDN architecture, showing significant gains in terms of spectral efficiency.

The network capacity benefits of Flexgrid
Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) networks of the future are likely to use Flexgrid, providing operators with additional flexibility when assigning spectrum compared to traditional WDM networks using the 50GHz ITU grid. Flexgrid breaks the spectrum up into small (typically 12.5GHz) slots, but its key feature is that contiguous slots can be ...

Benefits of Active Stateful PCE for Flexgrid Networks
Relevant benefits of the active stateful PCE architecture are experimentally demonstrated on a flexgrid network testbed. Two experiments are reported, including a first demo on PCE-controlled code-adaptation applied to a 1Tb/s super-channel.

Optimization models for flexgrid elastic optical networks [PDF]
In the paper we present integer programming (IP) optimization models for flexgrid elastic optical networks (EON). We consider several different basic assumptions regarding flexibility of EON that lead to a variety of IP formulations differing in precision and complexity.

Elastic spectrum allocation in flexgrid optical networks [PDF]

Global concurrent optimization: Advantages and opportunities in flexgrid-based networks
In future flexgrid core networks the amount of lightpaths might increase significantly as a consequence of the finer granularity in the use of the optical spectrum. Different spectrum bandwidth can be allocated to each lightpath as a function of, among others, the bitrate amount to be conveyed and the modulation format used.
