Routing and spectrum allocation in flexi-grid optical networks
The 2012 11th International Conference on Optical Communications and Networks (ICOCN), 2012We compare three lightpath routing and spectrum allocation algorithms for the flexi-grid optical transport networks. The three algorithms include shortest path first algorithm, grid-plane-based first-fit algorithm, and grid-plane-based exhaustive algorithm. We evaluate the performance of these algorithms through simulations.

Static and dynamic spectrum allocation in flexi-grid optical networks
2012 14th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2012We consider the problems of both static and dynamic resource allocation in spectrum flexible (flexi-grid) optical networks. We present algorithms for planning such networks given the requested demand rates. We also present dynamic spectrum allocation policies to serve time-varying traffic and analyze their blocking performance for the dynamic operation

Trading Regeneration and Spectrum Utilization in Code-Rate Adaptive Flexi-Grid Networks
Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2014Introduced to improve the spectral efficiency, time-frequency packing technique allows the exploitation of different code rates, leading to different levels of spectral utilization and all-optical reach. To ensure quality of transmission of the optical signal, opto-electronic regeneration must be used to propagate the transmission beyond the maximum ...

Control Plane Solutions for Dynamic and Adaptive Flexi-Grid Optical Networks
39th European Conference and Exhibition on Optical Communication (ECOC 2013), 2013We present an overview of control plane architectures for dynamic and adaptive provisioning and rerouting of elastic optical connections. First, distributed control plane architectures combining GMPLS with stateless and stateful PCEs are discussed. Next, we detail different deployment models of the PCE in the OpenFlow centralized control plane.

Energy-aware virtual network embedding in flexi-grid optical networks
2017 International Conference on Optical Instruments and Technology: Optoelectronic Devices and Optical Signal Processing, 2018Virtual network embedding (VNE) problem is to map multiple heterogeneous virtual networks (VN) on a shared substrate network, which mitigate the ossification of the substrate network. Meanwhile, energy efficiency has been widely considered in the network design. In this paper, we aim to solve the energy-aware VNE problem in flexi-grid optical networks.

Colorless flexi-grid WDM-PON system based on polarization multiplexed optical comb
2017 26th Wireless and Optical Communication Conference (WOCC), 2017We propose colorless flexi-grid WDM-PON system utilizing polarization multiplexed optical comb-source for downstream and upstream transmission. For proof-of-concept, we experimentally demonstrate full-duplex system carrying downlink and uplink capacity of 10 Gb/s and 2.5 Gb/s, respectively per subscriber over 7 km fiber.
