The dynamics of a viscoelastic rotor in flexible bearings
Archive of Applied Mechanics, 1991The stability of a symmetric, one-disk rotor model in flexible bearings has been analyzed. The viscoelastic property of the shaft complying with a 3-parameter standard model has been taken into account. The existence of an unstable region has been proved analytically. It exists only in the range of small values of the external damping coefficient.

A Flexible Rotor on Flexible Bearing Supports: Part II — Unbalance Response
Volume 7A: 17th Biennial Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise, 1999Abstract An experimental study of the effects of bearing support flexibility on rotor unbalance response is presented. A flexible rotor supported by fluid film bearings on flexible supports was used with fifteen support configurations.

Active Vibration Control of a Flexible Rotor on Flexibly-Mounted Journal Bearings
Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement, and Control, 1981Some recent experimental studies have been concerned with the stabilization of rotating machinery through control action applied at critical points on the rotor. These studies have tended to ignore fundamental constraints on the positioning of active control inputs and measurement transducers.

Stability of rotors with unsymmetrical flexible bearings
1969In classical studies of rotors supported by flexible bearings, isotropy of the bearings is assumed in most cases. F. M. Dimentberg [1], A. Tondl [2], and W. Kellenberger [3] have treated the problem of rotors with anisotropic flexible bearings with the principal axes of flexibility being in parallel.

Control of Flexible Rotor Vibration with Flexibly Mounted Active Magnetic Bearings
2018Typical rotor/active magnetic bearing (AMB) system layouts involving large, external stator AMBs may be difficult or inconvenient to apply to some rotor systems. Where space in the machine working envelope is at a premium, the space required by traditional AMBs may preclude them from inclusion in the design.
