Design and Field Application of Flexible Excitation System Damping Controllers
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2021Nowadays a strong ability of stability control is required in the increasingly complex power system. The flexible excitation system of the synchronous generator is a novel structure with full-controlled devices, which has two damping channels to provide more stable and flexible control potential compared with the conventional excitation system with ...

The excitation of waves on a flexible panel in a uniform flow
Philosophical Transactions Series A, Mathematical, Physical, and Engineering Sciences, 1998The author applies theoretical and numerical methods to study the wave-bearing behaviour of a finite flexible plate in a uniform flow under oscillatory excitation. It is found that the plate can respond to the frequences other than that of the driver; these frequences may either be present in the start-up procedure or be generated by wave conversions ...

The Radially Flexible Pendulum Subjected to a High-Frequency Excitation
Journal of Applied Mechanics, Transactions ASME, 1983A high-frequency harmonic excitation is applied to a pendulum that is flexible in the radial direction. Approximate equilibrium positions are found when the excitation is in a general and fixed direction. An approximate stable motion is found when the direction of the excitation changes constantly and slowly.

The Rotationally Flexible Pendulum Subjected to a High Frequency Excitation
Journal of Applied Mechanics, Transactions ASME, 1990A high frequency harmonic excitation is applied to the pivot of a rotationally flexible pendulum. It is found that various equilibrium positions occur depending on the stiffness of the flexible parts.

Excitation Flexibility of On-Antenna Power Combining
IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, 2023In this letter, a design methodology is proposed for on-antenna power combining with flexible input power ratios. Designing multi-feed antennas with direct power combining requires weighted driving signals to match the field distribution at the resonant mode of the antenna, imposing serious restrictions on their implementation.

Actuator and Exciter Placement for Flexible Structures
Journal of Guidance, Control, and Dynamics, 1997Summary: Systematic approaches to select the optimal candidate sets for actuator and exciter placement are developed. The performance of control and system identification for flexible structures depends strongly on the locations of actuators and exciters.

Quenching of an excitation moving on a flexible polymer
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2003We study theoretically the irreversible quenching of an excitation migrating on a polymer by small quencher molecules. Using a simplified superposition approximation, we solve the hierarchical reaction-diffusion equations and obtain the quenching rate and survival probability of the excitation. Depending upon the excitation mobility as well as upon the

Flexible control of the parametrically excited pendulum
Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 1996The purpose is not only to study the behaviour of a parametrically excited pendulum, but also to present the topological theory of dynamical systems in order to select in parameter and phase space the desired orbits from a large variety of unstable solutions.

Particle current on flexible surfaces excited by harmonic waves
Physical Review E, 2013In this paper, a study on the directed particle current on flexible surfaces excited by a harmonic wave is reported. The proposed theory considers three different models for the kinematics of the surface, namely the Euler-Bernoulli, Timoshenko, and Rayleigh surface wave models.

On the extreme response of heave-excited flexible risers
Applied Ocean Research, 2000The focus of this paper is on the development of a high effective practical approach to assess the short-term extreme response statistics of flexible risers excited by the first-order heave motion of a floating unit. The extreme response statistics is obtained by fitting a probability distribution directly to a sample of extreme response values.
