Flexible Rotor Dynamic Balancing Method Based on a Multi-Layer LSTM Network

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Transient dynamic balancing of flexible rotors is of significant practical value in engineering. Traditional dynamic balancing requires repeated trial weights and start–stop cycles, resulting in inefficient balancing.

A New Method for Field-Balancing of High-Speed Flexible Rotors without Trial Weights

open access: yesInternational Journal of Rotating Machinery, 2014
Flexible rotor balancing, in general, relies to a great extent on physical insight into the modal nature of the unbalance response. The objective of this investigation is to develop a hybrid experimental/analytical technique for balancing high-speed ...

Simplified prediction of stability limit for oil film bearing rotor systems

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2020
Oil film bearings are often used in large rotating machinery because they have large load capacity and damping coefficients. They, however, generate fluid forces and cause unstable vibrations such as oil whirl and oil whip at high rotational speed ...

Redefining Separator Design and Water Activity for High‐Energy Zinc Batteries Using Covalent Organic Framework

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Device‐level zinc batteries are energy‐limited by the mass/volume of inactive components, while lean‐electrolyte operation triggers interfacial water depletion and unstable kinetics. Here we elucidate lean‐failure mechanisms and develop a COF@PAN functional separator that regulates hydrogen‐bonding networks to manage water activity and accelerate ...

Transducers Across Scales and Frequencies: A System‐Level Framework for Multiphysics Integration and Co‐Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

Balancing of a Flexible Rotor : 5th Report, Vibration and Balancing of a Flexible Rotor on Flexible Bearing with Viscous Damping

open access: yesBulletin of JSME, 1977
Unbalanced vibration of a flexible rotor supported on two bearings is analysed in this paper for the case of flexible support with viscous damping. The analytical solution is obtained by using the concept of "forced mode", which makes the vibration phenomena for the system in consideration more understandable than before.

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

TreeSpider: In‐Canopy Exploration With Tether‐Based Aerial Modular Arms

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A tethered drone with perching arms and a 360° ring enables unprecedented maneuverability within dense forest canopies. By dynamically adjusting tether length and decoupling pitch from the frame, it navigates between branches, senses multiple trees, and interacts physically with foliage.

Supercritical Coexistence Behavior of Coupled Oscillating Planar Eccentric Rotor/Autobalancer System

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2018
The automatic balancing and undesirable nonsynchronous behavior of coupled oscillating configured flexible foundation and planar eccentric rotor equipped with a passive autobalancer (AB) system has been thoroughly investigated here.
