Evaluation of at-home physiotherapy: machine-learning prediction with smart watch inertial sensors

open access: yesBone & Joint Research, 2023
Aims: An objective technological solution for tracking adherence to at-home shoulder physiotherapy is important for improving patient engagement and rehabilitation outcomes, but remains a significant challenge.

Does inter-vertebral range of motion increase after spinal manipulation? A prospective cohort study. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Background: Spinal manipulation for nonspecific neck pain is thought to work in part by improving inter-vertebral range of motion (IV-RoM), but it is difficult to measure this or determine whether it is related to clinical outcomes.

Hirayama disease: neutral and flexion magnetic resonance imaging and utility of inter-segmental angle of flexion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
PURPOSE: Hirayama disease (HD) is a rare disease that was commonly mis-diagnosed in the past. The importance of neutral and flexion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in its accurate diagnosis has been emphasized along with utility of the inter-segmental ...

Shape, shear and flexion: an analytic flexion formalism for realistic mass profiles [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2009
Flexion is a non-linear gravitational lensing effect that arises from gradients in the convergence and shear across an image. We derive a formalism that describes non-linear gravitational lensing by a circularly symmetric lens in the thin-lens approximation.

Optimizing range of motion in reverse shoulder arthroplasty: the crucial role of glenoid inclination and lateralization

open access: yesBone & Joint Open
Aims: Optimal glenoid positioning in reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) is crucial to provide impingement-free range of motion (ROM). Lateralization and inclination correction are not yet systematically used.

Morphologie und Semantik der "n"-Erweiterung bei "Muttern" und "Vatern" im Deutschen

open access: yesZeitschrift für Wortbildung, 2021
This paper deals with German kinship terms ending with the form n (Muttern, Vatern). Firstly, data from newspapers are presented that show that especially Muttern denotes very special meanings that can only be derived to a limited extent from the lexical

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The Impact of spinopelvic and hip mobility on passive hip flexion range of motion assessment [PDF]

open access: yes
Background Measuring passive hip flexion range of motion (ROM) is challenging due to compensatory movements. Despite the interest in using functional lateral radiographs for assessing hip mobility, the relationship with passive hip flexion ROM remains
