Recruitment of motor units in human flexor carpi ulnaris
Brain Research, 1993In 1949, Denny-Brown reported that the motoneuron pool of the human flexor carpi ulnaris (FCU) muscle was fractionated into subpopulations, each subpopulation being activated during a different voluntary motor task. The following report presents data on motor unit recruitment in the human FCU muscle for the tasks of isometric flexion and ulnar ...

Assessment of Flexor carpi ulnaris function for tendon transfer surgery
Journal of Biomechanics, 2008Active and passive length-force curves of spastic flexor carpi ulnaris (FCU) muscles were intra-operatively measured in 10 patients with cerebral palsy to study the variability in FCU muscle function. Maximum active FCU force was in general situated near the neutral position of the wrist and varied between 40 and 135 N.

The distribution of motoneurons innervating the flexor carpi radialis (FCR) and flexor carpi ulnaris (FCU) muscles was studied utilizing retrograde labeling with horseradish peroxidase (HRP). The motor nuclei showed considerable differences in their longitudinal extents.

Flexor Carpi Ulnaris Transplant and Its Use in Cerebral Palsy
The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, 1962In our experience, transplantation of the flexor carpi ulnaris is the single best procedure to improve function of the wrist and hand in cerebral palsy. It aids dorsiflexion and supination and, at the same time, preserves active motion of the wrist.

CALCIFICATION ABOUT THE FLEXOR CARPI ULNARIS TENDON
Archives of Surgery, 1938During the past year or so we have had an opportunity of studying a number of patients, all of whom presented such strikingly similar symptoms as to warrant their being grouped together as having a definite clinical entity. Typically, there were sharply localized pain and tenderness over the area around the pisiform bone; a pathognomonic limitation of ...

Flexor Carpi Radialis, Palmaris Longus, and Flexor Carpi Ulnaris Tendons: Anatomy and Pathology
2013On the volar aspect of the wrist, superficial to the carpal tunnel, there are three tendons: the flexor carpi radialis (the lateralmost of the three), the palmaris longus, and the flexor carpi ulnaris (the most medial) (Fig. 7.1).
