Development of sustainable biodegradable lignocellulosic hemp fiber/polycaprolactone biocomposites for light weight applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Biocomposites with poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) as matrix and lignocellulosic hemp fiber with varying average aspect ratios (19, 26, 30 and 38) as reinforcement were prepared using twin extrusion process.

Tough, Ductile, and Strong Hard‐Soft Cementitious Composite Enabled by Multi‐Material Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including

Process for improving mechanical properties of epoxy resins by addition of cobalt ions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
A resin product useful as an adhesive, composite or casting resin is described as well as the process used in its preparation to improve its flexural strength mechanical property characteristics.

CANCER OF THE SPLENIC FLEXURE [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Medical Association, 1914
The splenic flexure marks an intermediate position in the colon both anatomically and physiologically. The proximal segment, the cecum and the ascending and transverse colon, as observed by Cannon,1churn and mix the bowel contents until the moisture is largely removed.

Splenic flexure volvulus [PDF]

open access: yesPostgraduate Medical Journal, 1985
Summary Splenic flexure volvulus is rare, only 22 cases having been reported. Though these usually present with chronic intermittent clinical features we recently encountered a case presenting as acute intestinal obstruction which, on plain abdominal X-rays, had classical features of this condition.

Triply‐Twinned Metamaterials: Unraveling the Mechanics and Failure Pathways Through High‐Resolution XCT

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Triply‐twinned architected lattices transform deformation from bending to stretching of struts, delivering up to threefold increases in stiffness and strength across polymeric and metallic systems. High‐resolution synchrotron XCT and image‐based simulations reveal how meta‐grain architecture, defects, and AM build orientation govern failure pathways ...

Flexible Dielectric Acoustic Resonator Patch for Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A flexible dielectric acoustic resonator patch enables MHz‐range ultrasound generation through resonance amplification without using piezoelectric materials. Conformal integration on a curved substrate allows efficient acoustic delivery to tissue‐mimicking environments.

Ammonium Salts as Curing Agents to Obtain Ionic Epoxy Resins With a Thermoplastic‐to‐Thermoset Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic epoxy networks are prepared using ammonium salts as hardeners, leading to a two‐stage curing process with a thermoplastic‐like intermediate. This uncommon behavior enables extrusion and fabrication of thermoplastic prepregs that can be cured into thermoset composites.

Analisis Kinerja Komposit Hibrid Aerated Autoclaved Concrete Panel – Lapisan Beton Bertulang Terhadap Lentur

open access: yesJurnal Teknik Sipil
Aerated Autoclaved Concrete (AAC) precast panels are designed for 400kg/m2 loads. Installation of AAC panels is usually added an additional layer on the top surface as protection. The reinforced concrete layer on top of the AAC panels is often defined as
