Calibration of equivalent geometric imperfections for second‐order theory analysis of hot‐rolled U‐profiles

open access: yesSteel Construction, EarlyView.
Abstract The stability behaviour of steel structures is important when performing design. Standards (such as EN 1993‐1‐1 – Eurocode 3 Part 1‐1) take the stability of steel members into account and allow for verifications using reduction factors or by second‐order theory analysis considering equivalent geometric imperfections.

Stability and plasticity interaction in building‐size steel sway frames

open access: yesSteel Construction, EarlyView.
Abstract Accurate design rules are crucial for the safety, sustainability and economy of steel structures. To predict the load‐bearing capacity of sway structures, Eurocode 3, Part 1‐1, uses individual member unity checks, which are assumed to include the interaction between members, related to their stability and plastic behaviour.

Flexural properties of equine metacarpus

Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, 1971
AbstractThe flexural tests on 37 whole equine metacarpus bones are described and the results are given in terms of fundamental material properties as a function of age. The moduli of elasticity, rupture, and failure increase then decrease with increasing age. The rupture and failure deformations decrease with age.

Flexural properties of denture base polymers

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1980
Heat-polymerized denture base materials with the cross-linking agent 1,4-BDMA and with different amounts of the cross-linking agent EGDMA have similar flexural properties. At the relatively low loading rate of 2 N/minute all the heat-polymerized denture base materials investigated have better flexural properties than the autopolymerized pour- and dough-

The flexural properties of endodontic post materials

Dental Materials, 2010
To measure the flexural strengths and moduli of endodontic post materials and to assess the effect on the calculated flexural properties of varying the diameter/length (D/L) ratio of three-point bend test samples.Three-point bend testing of samples of 2mm diameter metal and fiber-reinforced composite (FRC) rods was carried out and the mechanical ...

Flexural Properties of Bioactive Restoratives in Cariogenic Environments

Operative Dentistry, 2021
SUMMARY This study determined the mechanical performance of bioactive restoratives in cariogenic environments and compared the flexural properties of various bioactive materials. The materials evaluated included a conventional resin-based composite (Filtek Z350 [FZ]) and 3 bioactive restoratives, namely an alkasite (Cention N [CN]), a giomer ...

Flexural properties of z-pinned laminates

Composites Part A: Applied Science and Manufacturing, 2007
This paper examines the effect of pinning on the flexural properties, fatigue life and failure mechanisms of carbon/epoxy laminates. Five-harness satin weave carbon/epoxy laminates were reinforced in the through-thickness direction with different volume fractions and sizes of fibrous composite pins.

Flexural properties of human fingernails

1981
Nail is a specialised epidermal structure which has evolved with physical properties differing widely from normal stratum corneum. Studying the physical properties of nail may contribute to the understanding of nail disease, and the techniques may be used to assess the value of topical nail treatments. With comparative studies, further understanding of

Research Flexural Properties of Prestressed Slabs

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2015
This paper is aimed to study on the flexural performance of prestressed slab and prestressed composite slab ,in order to provide the reference in engineering. At first, the prestressed slab is loaded under unformly distributed load, and then prestressed plate deflection , crack measurements. According to the phenomenon and data of the test, the mechanical
