Control of a multi-degree of freedom worktool for vibrations assisted forging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper addresses the control of a tool developed to superimpose vibrations along several directions on a piece during forging. Piezoelectric actuators are used to provide the required forces and speeds.

Topologically optimised flexure hinge based XY stage

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2017
The purpose of this study is to develop a millimeter scale two degree of freedom planar actuation mechanism (XY stage) with flexure hinges that can generate micrometer scale motion at high frequencies. To amplify the micro scale motion in X and Y directions, two identical levers are used.

Damage Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Structures with Substandard Detailing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The goal of this study is to investigate seismic behaviour of existing R/C buildings designed and constructed in accordance with standards that do not meet current seismic code requirements.

Theoretical Stiffness Modeling and Application Research of a Novel Stacked Flexure Hinge

open access: yesAerospace, 2023
This study investigates and designs a novel stacked hinge with low stiffness, large rotation angle, high strength, and length-adaptive functionality. Firstly, based on the large deformation theory of cantilever beams and relevant theories of leaf springs,

Large Stroke Performance Optimization of Spatial Flexure Hinges [PDF]

open access: yesVolume 6: 1st Biennial International Conference on Dynamics for Design; 14th International Conference on Advanced Vehicle Technologies, 2012
Flexure hinges inherently lose stiffness in supporting directions when deflected. In this paper a method is presented for optimizing the geometry of flexure hinges, while supporting stiffnesses are retained. These hinges are subjected to a load and deflected an angle of up to ±20°.

A Twisted String, Flexure Hinges Approach for Design of a Wearable Haptic Thimble

open access: yesActuators, 2021
Wearable haptic devices in the shape of actuated thimbles are used to render the sense of touch in teleoperation and virtual reality scenarios. The design of similar devices has to comply with concurring requirements and constraints: lightweight and ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Design and Analysis of Power-function-sine Flexure Hinges

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2023
In this study, a new type of power-function-sine flexure hinge is proposed. The calculation formula of compliance and rotation accuracy of the flexure hinge is derived by using Castigliano's second theorem.

Analytical modeling of reinforced concrete columns subjected to bidirectional shear [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Under general seismic loading, reinforced concrete columns may be subjected to lateral loads in more than one direction. Available experimental data on columns subjected to bidirectional forces indicate that higher levels of damage and a higher loss of ...

Intein‐based modular chimeric antigen receptor platform for specific CD19/CD20 co‐targeting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CARtein is a modular CAR platform that uses split inteins to splice antigen‐recognition modules onto a universal signaling backbone, enabling precise, scarless assembly without re‐engineering signaling domains. Deployed here against CD19 and CD20 in B‐cell malignancies, the design supports flexible multi‐antigen targeting to boost T‐cell activation and
