Long‐Term Operation of Photovoltaic Power Stations Promotes Soil Carbon Sequestration but Induces Stoichiometric C:N:P Imbalance in Desert Ecosystems

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Soil carbon‐nitrogen‐phosphorus (C:N:P) stoichiometry governs nutrient cycling and carbon sequestration in desert ecosystems, yet how large‐scale photovoltaic (PV) deployment, a cornerstone of global carbon neutrality, shifts these stoichiometric balances and whether such shifts enhance or degrade long‐term land function remain unresolved over

Indium‐Free Silicon Heterojunction Solar Cells: Achieving High Conductivity With Magnetron‐Sputtered SnO2

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, EarlyView.
Amorphous SnO2 films with low resistivity (~1.2 × 10−3 Ωcm) were realized by low‐temperature magnetron sputtering through control of O2 flow ratio, substrate temperature, and H incorporation. Si heterojunction solar cells incorporating these films achieved a conversion efficiency of 21.1%, approaching that of cells based on MS‐ITO and RPD‐SnO2 ...

Degradation of Crystalline Si‐Based Solar Modules With Varying Material Combinations—Part I: Encapsulant Degradation

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, EarlyView.
This work deals with the degradation of solar modules with varying material combinations under accelerated aging conditions. By in situ moisture measurements and simulations of oxygen ingress, the consumption of stabilizing additives and polymer degradation can be correlated spatially resolved with the penetrating stressors.

AI‐Based PV Fault Detection: Benchmarking Indicators and Feature Selection Methods

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, EarlyView.
This article benchmarks indicators for automated defect detection in photovoltaic modules. The methodology has three phases: generating a simulated ideal defect‐free I‐V curve, comparing it with experimental measurements under standard test conditions, calculating indicators, and applying a feature‐selection strategy to identify the most relevant ...
