On the limits of computations with the floor function

open access: yesInformation and Computation, 1988
The authors define the concept of an ``analytic computation tree'' (ACT) as an algorithmic model (decision tree) which operates on \({\mathbb{R}}^ n\) and at each step either (a) compares a real number with 0 and branches according to the result, or (b) computes a real function which is a composition of analytic functions and the floor function.

Mechanisms of pelvic floor muscle function and the effect on the urethra during a cough [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background: Current measurement tools have difficulty identifying the automaticphysiologic processes maintaining continence, and many questions still remainabout pelvic floor muscle (PFM) function during automatic events. Objective: To perform a ...

Downregulated androgen receptor expression in preputial tissues of children with hypospadias

open access: yesFrontiers in Pediatrics
PurposeTo resolve conflicting evidence on androgen receptor (AR) expression in hypospadias, we compared preputial AR levels between affected children and controls.MethodsForty patients with isolated hypospadias (age 2.9 ± 0.79 years, range 1.6–5.2 years)

Splenogonadal fusion: a case report of three cases and a literature review

open access: yesFrontiers in Pediatrics
PurposeThis case report aims to enhance the understanding of clinical physicians regarding splenogonadal fusion (SGF) and to help them consider SGF as a differential diagnosis when testicular tumors are suspected, thus avoiding unnecessary orchiectomies ...

ON THE PRIMES IN FLOOR FUNCTION SETS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Let [t] be the integral part of the real number t and let 1 P be the characteristic function of the primes. Denote by π G (x) the number of primes in the floor function set G(x) := {[ x n ] : 1 n x} and by S 1 P (x) the number of primes in the sequence {[
