The value of the floor

Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, 2009
Existing theoretical literature suggests that floor trading has discernable benefits over electronic trading. In particular floor relationships lead to a reduction in asymmetric information and hence lower spreads. The ability of floor brokers to participate in incoming order flow without revealing their supply and demand curves increases total ...

An analysis of floor roughness & slip resistance of floors

2015 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management (IEEM), 2015
Slip and fall are the main cause of occupational injuries or fatalities at workplace. Falls have been one of the top three occupational incidences which reached a peak in 2013 with an incidence percentage of 17% in Taiwan. Most falls were attributed to unsafe environment where the floors were contaminated by the water and other liquids.

Orbital Floor Restoration

Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 2005
Orbital blow-out fractures reconstruction aims to restore the continuity of the orbital floor, to provide support of orbital contents and prevent soft tissues' fibrosis. Different materials have been tested over the years to reach this purpose. Traditionally, autogenous grafts have been used as the material of choice; in recent years alloplastic ...

Floor structure and floor base panel

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2007
In the floor base panel (40), an area on the support board (33) of the vibration proof support leg (30) is formed solid, and in the other area, a plurality of cavities (41) extending in the parallel direction to the floor surface are formed. Thereby, because the vibration energy propagated from the impact point of the floor base panel (40) is reflected

Flooring-Systems and Their Interaction with Usage of the Floor

2017
Some flooring-system designs might be sensitive to their vibrational performance, as there might be the risk that serviceability-limit-state problems may be encountered. For evaluating the vibrational performance of the flooring-system at the design stage, decisions need to be made by the engineer in charge of computations.
