Carriage of antimicrobial‐resistant E. coli in urban stray cats (Felis catus)
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Escherichia coli is a growing concern in both human and veterinary medicine, driven by the inappropriate use of antimicrobials. Companion animals may act as community reservoirs and sentinels for antimicrobial‐resistant bacteria due to their close contact with humans and other animals.

Should equine practitioners still prescribe chloramphenicol for treating horses?
Summary Background Clinical breakpoints for chloramphenicol are not currently available to test susceptibility of bacteria isolated from horses. Without these breakpoints, testing the susceptibility of bacterial isolates from horses cannot be interpreted properly.

ABSTRACT In finfish aquaculture, there are several inflammatory diseases impacting productivity and animal welfare, however there are limited options available to veterinarians to treat inflammation and pain in fish. Nonsteroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are widely used in terrestrial animals raised for human consumption to treat a range of ...

ABSTRACT Monitoring antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in fish pathogens is essential for supporting sustainable aquaculture. In this study, susceptibility testing and genome sequencing were used to characterize the AMR profile of seven Flavobacterium psychrophilum originating from Danish rainbow trout farms (2019–2022).

Extended antibiotic treatment in salmon farms select multiresistant gut bacteria with a high prevalence of antibiotic resistance genes. [PDF]
The high use of antibiotics for the treatment of bacterial diseases is one of the main problems in the mass production of animal protein. Salmon farming in Chile is a clear example of the above statement, where more than 5,500 tonnes of antibiotics have ...

ABSTRACT In February 2025, a mortality event of unknown aetiology occurred at a hybrid grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus × Epinephelus lanceolatus) aquaculture farm in southern Taiwan, with sporadic daily deaths persisting for a month. Four moribund groupers were collected over three sampling intervals for diagnostic investigation.
